Can't ignite torches with angler gel anymore?

I put the gel into a standing torch and it doesn't give me the ignite option. It just says open inventory. I always put an angler gel standing torch in my dimetrodon water pens. This is a bummer.

Is this a bug or did Wildcard change it intentionally?

 

Edit: Nvm the torch was too deep in the water. Totally forgot it's not working then.
