Okay so I wanna do easy manticore and I have a friend who says that the easy manticore is the easiest boss fight there is, well I've never done it befor and I watched a few videos and doing it with just rexs seems like an impossible task.....I have 16 rexs all with 30k health (some a little more) and 450 melee(some past 500) is it possible to do easy manticore with these rexs? Is it Easier then what it looks? And is there any thing I need to know befor I do this?

I was planning on trying the medium-hard soon with base 10k 380%. Hopefully this weekend after my next generation of rexes full grows. Still need a decent rex saddle BP though.

Here's a tip: you can do hard with those stats. I would suggest pumping straight damage (or a few in hp if you really want vs worms and golems) and nothing else. Manticore does very low damage but extreme torpor, which you have no control over.

Your real enemy is the arena timer, as it sometimes decides to not land. We farm alpha all the time but once in a while (and becoming more and more frequent) it spends like 16 of the 20 minutes just flying around and never landing: just leveling damage helps you get the extra damage for the moments when it does land.

Keep in mind that leveling your rexes in this manner makes their viability questionable versus island bosses.

My main group is based on the center. I just did my first boss fight this last weekend versus the brood/mega and was only able to kill the brood, since they both joined in. At the time i was using the throw-aways from my breeds, 6-8k health 280-370% melee. And even though I lost, I got really close. I was told by a couple others that like 10 of the new gen would be fine. I'll probably pump to like 15k and then melee and see how that goes, if that's your recommendation. This time I may have an alliance instead of solo, cause some others from my server wanted to join in. They may even bring some rexes. Thanks for the info!

No problem. And yes, it's better with other players because of their reaction time, they can charge at the manticore and predict where it will land. Plus they do more dps

Woo, more number crunching!

Easy Manticore has 10k HP. It deals 60(Yes, 60) hp per melee hit, and its most devastating attack is its poison spit, which deals 100 damage per ball (~4-5 balls, so lets say 500 damage). Compared to the Megapithecus, or even the Broodmother, the Manticore is a REAL pushover - Even hard mode, which is only double the damage, and 60% more HP at 16k HP.

Its... poopting easy. The actual threats are the Death Worms and Rock Elementals. The timer is also a threat, since the Manticore can just bug out and fly around all boss fight - But, a decent assault rifle/compound bow with a LOT of arrows will allow a single player to steadily kill it while its in the air, it'll just be hella expensive.

You can bring flyers into the Manticore arena too.  Got a flock of Argents that you never use anymore now that you got a few quetzals/wyverns? Just gather them up, slap a good saddle on em, and go into the arena - As long as they aren't absolute crap, the Argents will kill the Manticore while you go take a poop, watch porn, ect. On hard mode, I just bring in my argent killing flock - Its less threatening on PvP servers then 20 rexes/wyverns, and gets the job done quick. Manticore has poop aim for Air vs Air for its breath, and its melee tickles.

This is actually exciting since im breeding argent mainly and have no real use of them other than packing metal and kill some giga occationally for fun.

Pump melee and they will bring him down in no time. 8 lightning wyverns with 10k hp and 500 melee will beat hard every time, enable lightning attack, whistle attack at the manticore, sit on rex and wait lol

Yup. You'll take him down EZ-PZ.

Just make sure you don't run up to close to him, attack his wings or he'll boot.

So I wanna do this with wyverns. I am under the impression that you need a yuti also to wake the dragons up if they go to sleep. Is that true? Also am I taking 19 wyverns and a yuti or 20 wyverns. It's two of us on easy. Also were there any changes I heard somebody complain that they only got him down to 60% after the last update. And sorry for so many question would fire wyverns work also?

Update: (so reading other posts helps lol)

10 wyverns to take him down. I think I can do that. Is that the wyvern limit or can I bring more?

You can't really fit more than 12 wyvern on the obi.

We did it yesterday with a yuty with 25k hp and 4k stamina, grey saddle, and wyvern from 9-15k hp and 350-420 dmg.

The yuty did just fine, i was moving all fight long to roar at the wyvern, didn't pay a lot of attention to the adds.

One wyvern died, they all lost about 6-9k hp. Time limit was no issue.

If you go in, make sure that everyone mounts something right at the start, or you might be catapulted into the air by the starting wyvern.

Just try to use the yuty as much as you can and no wyvern will fall asleep. Wear a gas mask to be safe from the poison.

If you organize the obby correct you can fit in a yuty, 2x therizino + 14-15 wyverns.

Our wyverns have 7-13k hp and are all 525-700 melee. We can do alpha 3 times in a row with only changing out the theri's. The yuty has 30k hp and our theri's have 9.7k hp / 425 melee base -> currently they are on 11k hp or something + 800-900 melee.

For easy manticore you can even use tapejara's or argies. Most people don't think of this but yes it is an option

Would you mind posting a screenshot?

We put the yuty in the middle with the terminal under it, sqeeze wyverns in and argies wherever there is room. When we try to spread the wyverns, some always stay behind.

if you remind me later i'll post a screenshot this weekend when i'm doing another bossfight (and if i'm doing one)

but basicly its very simple:

1. place all the outer ring wyverns except for 1:

the 2 feet of the wyvern have to be inside the metal ring to be teleported (fully inside, not on the ring itself). It's easier to see with a bonecostume

2. 1 yuty and 2 theri's in through the gap where there is 1 wyv missing, just run them into the opposite wyverns squeezing them.

3. squeeze in the rest:

this is where it gets tricky. if you mount on a wyvern and fly it over to the middle most people would be able to land 1 in the middle on terminal. you can actually fit 2-3 more in the middle by (ab)using the game mechanics. very simple you mount a wyv and fly nose down in the middle, than you dismount. The wyvern will automatically land, even if there is not enough space (he'll be floating than but he'll still come)

Repeat that proces with the other wyverns you want to squeeze in untill there is not a single spot left.

Edit: I woudn't be using argies with light wyverns, the argies will all die by friendly

I believe the wyvern are facing inward?

The tip with the feet and bone costume will help, we are never sure where they wyverns are "cut off".

We use the argents because they are leftovers^^ all the wyvern are leftovers atm and don't use their special attacks.

Thanks for the idea, we have a stockpile of argies left over from breeding programs and we are currently throwing all the rex off cuts at manti that this is prefect, and thanks for the laugh.

Hi,
Yesterday night, I SOLOed Manticore gamma with just 5 Rex & a Fire Wyvern. Here's the video to it. I will give a few tips below:

Tips:
1. Don't use Wyverns. Their Torpidity is too low. Learned it the hard way.
2. Stimulants don't work to counteract Manticore venom on tames. Only works on you.
3. Rex is the goto dino. If transfers are allowed, Theri, Allo & even Carno can take Gamma down easily.
4. Manticore is easy, does puny damage. 100k health on Gamma & 160k on Alpha with barely any damage. But, real threat comes from Deathworms & much later the Rock Elementals. 5 Rex as I found out is more than enough. Concentrate fully on downing the Boss & ignore the minions.
5. Stats for your dinos should be 10k-20k health & pump everything else in to melee.
6. Yuty courage roar does decrease Manticore's torpidity attack effect.
7. On Alpha, I plan on taking at max 9 Rex & a Yuty as thats more than enough. Maybe, keep 2-3 Rex busy distracting the minions while the majority army goes for the boss.
8. Manticore does not always fly. Whenever it grounds itself, attack. Just be patient & dodge its ranged attacks.

My Server Stats:

  • Increased Taming, harvesting & imprint bonus stats.
  • I use slomo/gamma & ghost(when I get glitch stuck) as my only admin commands.
  • Very very rarely, I would spawn items(Manticore skin) or dinos(Giga, Alpha Wyvern since they are rare & I won't waste unnecessary time on search & kill dinos for a chance to spawn them. No, I dont use destroyalldinos cmd)
  • I've also transferred my veteran dinos(Anky/Beaver/Doed/Megaloceros/Ptera/Argy & Rex Eggs) from the Island using Transmitter which have made my SE journey a breeze.

High level Argents dishing out 400-500 damage per hit will also work wonders against Manticore. I don't have the video for it BUT long back on a past playthrough, I used a bred imprinted army of 20 Argys(mom & dad both level 150) & it decimated Alpha Manticore too on official settings(not my current setup). Argys have tighter turn radius vis-vis Wyverns & that helps mob kill the boss. That fight was actually easier than with Rex.
