How exactly do you starve tame without using dododex?

How exactly do you know when you can start putting food in your dino while starve taming to make him 100% without it being full when you doing so?

I'm really bad at using dododex when trying to figure when to put the food in a dinos inventory to starve tame it. Can anyone help me?

Thank You!

To do it manually, you would just do the math. Set the timer for a minute and watch the hunger number drop. After the minute, see how many points the hunger dropped, and that number will be your loss per minute. Then divide what's left in the food bar by that number and he result will be the number of minutes until empty.

different creatures require different amounts of food. So you can calculate how long it would take for it to eat a piece of a certain food, but starve taming does not involve having its food reach 0, because it will die. You need an external calc because you are not told how much affinity the creature gets per bite.

The math I always used was the following.

1 kibble restores 80 food (for 99.9% of dinos). Now you do need to know how much kibble it will take to tame the dino. But you then multiply the quantity of kibble by 80 and substract the result from it's MAX food (not what its food is at currently). That will give you the moment when the dino is starved enough to consume the kibble quickly and not having any waste.

Yes. But it does require searching up the amount of required kibble to some degree.

And remember, some creatures get more/less food per kibble. These exceptions are rhino, bronto, (about 50 something food per kib) and megalosaurus which is around 130.

Also of note is the fact that the daedon takes about 10 food per raw meat.

The favorite kibble fills up 80 points of food, (exceptions: Megalosaurus: 135; Diplocaulus, Daeodon, Kaprosuchus: 120; Bronto, Diplodocus, Woolly Rhino: 53.33; Archaeopteryx: 25; Rock Elemental: 20).  (Think Theriznos apply too.)

Dododex is actually really easy. The times it shows you is the amount of time required weather you starve tame, or put all the food on at once. The only difference is that putting the food on it will eat each time it drops 50 hunger (or 80 for some dinos). Starve taming is only better because there is less chance something will come along part way through your tame and eat it. There is no other benefit.

So take a level 50 Saber

If you are using Bronto kibble you leave it knocked out for 18 minutes then walk over and put your 6 kibble on. It takes 18 minutes for enough hunger to drop to eat 6 kibble, weather it eats them 1 at a time every 50 hunger or all in row after dropping 300 hunger.  If you are using raw meat you need to leave it for 1 hr and 18 minutes before putting the 42 raw meat on. Note that this line also shows 20 narcotics needed. So you would need to go back sometime before it wakes up and feed it 20 narcs.

Hope that helps dododex make more sense
