The Great Migration & Xbox UWP

Would much prefer having map wiped but be allowed to keep X amount of dinos rather than have no support at all on legacy. I would think that many/most of the duped items/creatures would then disappear? Granted some will still remain but with the new security measures being deployed at release, the same problems should not be incurred. Would just like a solution where dedicated players that have been here since the beginning and helped shape this game into a great seller that it is, be rewarded. There is no reward in getting to keep the stuff gathered over the years and receive 0 support for any issues, with the looming threat of getting wiped in the coming weeks regardless...  Maybe get to keep what can fit into the ob for dinos?  @Jen    @Jat

Only 1 of 30+ pvp hardcore island servers remains. 97% will be deleted!

I do not imagine how it will be possible to migrate to a potentially hostile server ...

They're wiping more than 50% of servers, yesterday the 10% promise turned to 33% on paper which turned to alot more wiped servers than 33%, full support on legacy turned to no support yesterday, wiping servers with close to 0 players turned to wiping servers with over 30 players!!( a server I occasionally visit on weekends which I never saw less than 30 players is also getting wiped) They are forcing people to cramp up in servers which were already at 50+, tame limit will stop us from playing soon, and their 30day notice turned to 4days!!!! like DILO WC, my positive review which is older than 2 years(when the game had too many game breaking bugs) is now a negative review. Until they decide that legacy servers cost too much to run and are too problematic.

From Jat's response he made it seem the only difference would be you cant transfer, they're lying trough their teeth, 30day notice of wipe turned to 4day 10-33% how can we trust anything they say anymore

They're already trying to get us to leave legacy! My friend and his tribe I occasionally played with an alliance of 7-8 different servers, in total over 100 people, thousands of dinos, tek trough the roof, and theyre all leaving and starting over on the new servers, what will change? duping? nope 100% sure it will happen within a week of the new servers go live

In the previous post I would agree it could be up for interpretation, but the edit by jat made it clear. There is no room for interpretation. He said it would be complete support. Anything else would not be complete support.

This is what we get for buying early access.

No offense but this is my honest opinion: Worst development team ever.

Gonna loose thousands of my hours due to this. Highly regret buying the game.

What on earth did you expect when you bought into Early Access, then?

I am pretty sure that you, as a lot of other people, were expecting a finished product more or less, completely ignoring the huge blue box where it says:

Early Access Game

Get instant access and start playing; get involved with this game as it develops.

Note: This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development.

I added the earlyaccessfaq link there just in case you're still confused.

QQ some more...

Too many servers are barely populated because people think this game is Minecraft and can build bases from one barrier to another... I don't know what people think was going to happen....

A new player joins a server.... pillars, Gates, and giant bases everywhere.... no where for a player to even start.... on top of that the tremendous lag caused by all this....

An even bigger problem is now those "populated" servers are going to be even more laggy with all of the new arrivals making the migration....

Imo: Wildcard needs to lower the build and tame cap even further, and allow large blooms of areas around metal, crystal, obsidian, and even survivor notes that can't be built on or around.

On top of everything else you mentioned, this is probably the most annoying thing on official servers next to spawning into a dino pen..

Morons building on top of explorer notes and closing off ruins etc..

Just to be clear:

Quote

with the use of Xbox and Windows 10 PC Crossplay (UWP) you can host your own server without needing an extra copy of the game or a second console to do it! (Though it is important to note that you will still be able to host a Player Dedicated server this way.) If you own ARK on Xbox, you get the Windows 10 PC version as well as the Xbox One X version for free and you can play with all your Xbox friends from your PC or either console.

Does this mean that I since I have bought this for the XBOX One, I can then host a server on either, and then play with my wife on e.g. the console and myself on the PC?

(Currently we are playing Single-player together on split-screen on the XBOX One, but even on a rather large Full HD TV some things are rather hard see/read).

@ExcessEvil and any who support this decision. Sorry to say but there is no defending this change of plans at the last minute. Would you ever trade with someone that takes your trade and gives you something completely different than what you agreed upon? The biggest problem here is what everyone has been strung along with promises of preserving their time sunk into playing the game, and a few days before release it all changes. It seems like they said what they needed to keep enough people playing to try some things out then cut bait and switch. Their stance they took months ago on server wipes and restructuring is what kept people playing. Changing at the last minute is not about Early Access or not, it is about integrity. There is none here. This is exemplified further by the silence from the devs in this thread.

I really must congratulate you!
No support for legacy servers!
A permit for the people, the already exaggerated player.
Those already blocking the half server, or new people exclude.
I had hoped it would get better and not worse!
Now, where you have to sever and change miscellaneous players on other existing servers ... It is already very strenuous the important access points like the RED Ark on my server are completely blocked ....
Or new people son egoisten meaningless are blocked simply because they do not want any new people ...

By your no support announcement, which is probably really unpleasant ...

I know that you want to move new potential players to buy the game, but also think of the players who have been playing the game for years ...

Well said, we're not mad about servers being wiped, we're mad we were lied to about it Like you said where's the devs? They aren't even in the studio working on the game. They aren't on here explaining their actions to the people that made them rich, they are at Gamescon trying to promote more lies. On the bright side, my wife works at Gamestop and in a 8 hr period 21 people came in and cancelled their preorder of Ark, Word is getting around.

All this hostility towards wc, it really should be directed towards the wide spread duping of tribes dominating the soon to be legacy servers. I wont presume to know if we'd be in the same place now minus the dupes, but i feel it's a good move to try and put the Ark player base on even terms. Try is the key word here. I run within small circles here and know they have some low key dupes they will try at launch..hope you got your poop together wc.

Yeah it sucks to be the minority who hasn't cheated the game and managed to hold their own. My tribe will suck it up, and use our xp within ark to get ahead once again.

As we have previously mentioned in July, today marks the beginning of the process of removing our lower population ARK servers on PC, Xbox, and PS4. Here is a quick breakdown on how this process will work.

Taking Down Low Pop Servers
These lower population servers make up about 33% of the existing online servers, with calculations based on sustained player-count as well as popularity of game mode. These servers will be taken offline and be re-purposed for new, fresh servers that will be put up on launch day. Any existing server that is not considered a low pop server and is not taken down will become a Legacy server.

Legacy servers will remain on a separate cluster from the new cluster, which means you will not be able to transfer anything between Legacy servers and the new servers.

Servers Up for Deletion
Below is a complete list of the servers that will be deleted come August 29th. You have from now until 12:00am EST on the 29th to move your belongings onto a server not present on this list. Please click one of the links below. They are separated by platform (PC, Xbox, and PS4).

How To Move Servers
If you are unfamiliar with the process, you are able to upload your items, creatures, and player through the Obelisk terminal, supply drops, as well as the Tek Transmitter. Survivors are advised to use Cross-ARK immediately to relocate their belongings onto a server that is not included in our take-down list above.

Server-wide Blackout
Our Official Server Network will be taken down at 12:00AM ET on August 29th and will remain down for approximately 8 hours, with our official servers coming back online at 8am ET. During this time we will be going through the process of removing all servers outlined in this post and re-purposing them into a new cluster, completely separate from all Legacy servers. The Legacy servers and all the new servers will come back online after that time.

Important Customer Support Legacy Information
When the current servers become Legacy servers on the 29th, we will no longer offer Customer Support to these Legacy servers. All outstanding tickets to our Customer Support team will be wiped clean on launch day, and no future tickets submitted by those playing on Legacy servers will be accepted. Going forward our Customer Support team will be focused on assisting those present on the new cluster, which will not be plagued by many of the issues that occurred during the Early Access process. Unfortunately it is beyond the scope of our operation to continue to offer support on Legacy servers at this time.

Do note that this is for Customer Support only, which is the process of submitting a ticket through our support system. Legacy clusters for PS4 and for Xbox will still be receiving Ragnarok servers. Legacy servers will also receive all of the same fixes and content that the new cluster will.

Allocation of New Servers
We know you are all very curious about this, but we don’t have this information ready to share quite yet. What I can tell you is that we plan to continue to support all current existing game modes in some capacity, so you won’t lose access to your favourite way to play the game. In the beginning we will be mainly focusing our efforts on strictly PVP and PVE servers on all maps, but will allocate servers to the other game modes based on their popularity.

Server Saves of Deleted Servers
We will make the save files available as soon as we can, which will likely be sometime before Saturday. We will host these files which anyone can download and then you are welcome to re-host the save file for your own use. We'll include a link to where you can download server saves in this post when they are available.

To those affected by the move, we apologize greatly. This moving process will not be easy, but it is a necessary step towards our official launch. We have learned a lot throughout our Early Access adventures. Throughout our ups and downs, you’ve stood by our side and continued to support us during our growing pains and mess ups which is why we wanted our players to have the ability to keep as much progress as they can while still moving forward with a plan that will improve the game overall. We are committed to monitoring the health of this new cluster with our new ddos mitigation and changes to the transfer system (both of which will also be present on the Legacy servers), which will no doubt improve the official online playing environment.

We look forward to fostering a fair and fun community with the beginning of our brand new ARK cluster on launch day. We very much appreciate your support of ARK through its Early Access process.

Xbox UWP, Rentable Servers, Crossbuy, & Crossplay!

large.5854cb0b22b50_DarkDolphin-Curiosit

While I have you here, I have some Xbox news to share as well!

Originally our plan was to go out with Play Anywhere on our launch day but unfortunately that has now been pushed back until mid-September. However I do have some exciting news to share: with the use of Xbox and Windows 10 PC Crossplay (UWP) you can host your own server without needing an extra copy of the game or a second console to do it! (Though it is important to note that you will still be able to host a Player Dedicated server this way.) If you own ARK on Xbox, you get the Windows 10 PC version as well as the Xbox One X version for free and you can play with all your Xbox friends from your PC or either console.

In addition, we'll be introducing rentable servers for our Xbox Survivors at that time! We'll be sure to let you all know when these additions are ready to go out to Xbox users.

Our release date is rapidly approaching and we're very excited for what is about to come. We hope you are too!

All the best,

Studio Wildcard

Not condoning duping, that is not the problem here. WC changing stance and promises is. The 11th hour is not when you make changes like this where 1 party loses so much and the other gains. See my previous post on this page. Wish you good luck on the new servers.
