Welcome to Unevolved Gaming, today we are going to take a closer look at the Tapejara

The Tapejara is a medium sized pterosaur that looks somewhat simular to a Pteranodon
They have a large peculiar crest on their head that acts as a sail and allows them to manoeuvre with extreme precision.

Even though the Tapejara is not as common as the Pteranodon it can be found almost everywhere on the island with the exception of the snow biome, carno island and herbivore island

Tapejara's are very skittish, and usually fly away when you approach them. A fast mount like a Pteranodon can be used to chase them down or kill them in the air. It is also possible to use a bola to ground the Tapejara, you can then use a weapon of choice to kill it

When killed a Tapejara can be harvested for raw meat and hide

There are several different strategies to tame a Tapejara.

It is possible to lure a Tapejara into a taming pen or location of choice by consuming rare flowers, however this is not recommended due to the fact that the pheromones released by the rare flowers will make most nearby creatures aggressive towards your survivor and mount.

Simply trapping a Tapejara with a bola is possible, however might prove difficult due to the distance needed in order to not scare away the Tapejara. Wearing a ghillie suit while attempting to bola a Tapejara allows you to get closer without it flying away.

Survivors that don't have a Ghillie suit can also use Giant bee Honey to lure a Tapejara close enough to trap it with a bola.

A trapped Tapejara can be knocked out with a relative small amount of tranquilizer arrows, darts or shocking tranquilizer darts

The Tapejara being a carnivore can be tamed with all kinds of meat and fish, however it prefers Allosaurus kibble, raw mutton, raw prime meat and raw prime fish meat.

Only a small amount of narcoberries, narcotics or bio toxin is needed to uphold a Tapejara's torpor

A saddle to ride the Tapejara can be crafted in the smithy when a survivor reaches level 55.

The Tapejara can also wear a tek saddle, this engram is unlocked when the dragon boss is defeated on gamma difficulty and can be crafted in the tek replicator. This saddle provides more armor and a laser shooting helmet for the Tapejara. The laser can be activated by pressing the right joystick and fired by pressing the right trigger on your controller. The Tapejara's laser requires element to work, every element will allow you to shoot 25 times.

On both of these saddles the Tapejara is capable of carrying a rider and two passengers one facing front and one facing back. Passengers can make use of hand held weapons during flight while the pilot can not. When the Tapejara is latched onto a surface, both the passengers and pilot can make full use of their weapons.

The Tapejara can pick up survivors and small creatures like Dodo's and Compy's by pressing the left trigger on you're controller while flying directly above them.

A Tapejara can latch on to vertical surfaces such as walls, cliffs and redwood trees by holding the a button on your controller. Survivors will have to keep in mind that The Tapejara currently cannot turn around while latched onto a surface. Flying backworths into the surface while holding the a button will make the Tapejara face down.

The Tapejara's ability to hover or move in any direction make it a very usefull mount to place walls and ceilings in hard to reach places. This ability can also prove very usefull when collecting giant bee honey from bee hives.

Pressing the right trigger on your controller will make the Tapejara bite your target. This attack is not extremely powerful however when combined with the Tapejara's maneuverability it can devastating for your opponent

In my opinion the Tapejara is a very useful mount for both pve and pvp servers. It's ability to carry 2 passengers make the Tapejara an essential mount for taming purposes while it's maneuverability makes it a mount not to be underestimated. The Tapejara's tek saddle also gives it an important role in advanced aerial warfare

That concludes our spotlight on the Tapejara
