Welcome to unevolved gaming,  today we're going to take a closer look at the Hesperornis

The Hesperornis is a medium-sized, fish-eating bird that somewhat looks like a loon. It has a long neck, waterproof feathers, and strong webbed feet. They spend most of their time gliding along the surface of the water, where they are much faster then on land. Due to their small wings they are not able to fly. The Hesperornis can be found in and around the rivers and lakes of the island.

The Hesperornis eats fish as Coelacanths and Sabertooth Salmon but mostly ignores other creatures and survivors, unless they get to close
They are very slow on land and deal only little damage. They can be killed fairly easy by using any melee or ranged weapon.
When killed the Hesperornis can be harvested for hide, raw meat and organic polymer

The Hesperornis can only be tamed passively by feeding it fish corpses, It is best to do this in a small taming pen because of their vulnerability to other predators and their mobility.
Flyers seem to unable to snatch the Hesperornis It can however be carried by a Megalosaurus and a Tusoteuthis
You can also force the Hesperornis to follow you into a pen by hitting it once. Keep in mind that the Hesperornis has low health so it is not recommended to use any weapons. Because of it's small size the Hesperornis will fit through a normal door frame, make sure to close the door as soon as it is in the pen.

You can start feeding the Hesperornis by dragging fish corpses to it and pressing the y button on your controller to feed it.
The size and type of fish fed to the Hesperornis has a small influence on the taming process. Sabertooth Salmon seems to be more effective in taming than Coelancanth.
A fish caught by an Ichthyornis will have a glowing aura surrounding it. Feeding the Hesperornis a sabertooth salmon with this aura will speed up the taming process significantly.
A Pachyrhinosaurus can be used to lure lots of fish to a certain spot to speed up the gathering process with the Ichthyornis.

Once tamed you can carry the Hesperornis on your shoulder

A female Hesperornis will lay an egg after killing and eating a certain amount of fish. There are two types of eggs that the Hesperornis can drop.

Normal Hesperornis eggs are currently not used in any kibble recipes however you can consume them as a food or put them in a cooking pot to transform them into a small amount off oil.

The Hesperornis can also drop a golden egg. These eggs give a 500% experience boost to smaller creatures and players for 600 seconds or a 10% boost to larger creatures when consumed. Golden Hesperornis eggs are also an ingredient in Kentrosaurus kibble used to tame Yutyrannus.

The best way to collect these eggs is to set the Hesperornis to wander in a closed off pen filled with wish. Make sure to have a small strip of beach in your pen where the Hesperornis can lay its eggs.

In my opinion the Hesperornis is a very useful creature for starting players because of the experience boost gained by consuming golden eggs and the organic polymer dropped when it is killed.
Even more advanced players might keep the Hesperornis around since the golden eggs are an important ingredient in kibble used to tame the Yutyrannus.

That concludes our spotlight on the Hesperornis
