yinzer
The melting point for Iron is 2750*F. Steel is around 2500*F. Steel typically doesn't start to weaken until well above 1000*F. Flowing lava in Hawaii's active volcanoes rarely exceed 1000*F. However magma in the crater can easily exceed 2000*F, enough to significantly damage steel. Will it be possible for metal (or tek?) structures in the exclusion zone to be able to withstand the lava flow? The crater should be off-limits, but it would be an interesting dynamic for the exclusion zone to be somewhat usable. Maybe metal structures take damage over time when in contact with lava (more damage the higher up?). This could create some interesting strategic event-driven battles in PVP with attackers trying to take out metal pillar stilts without getting caught by the lava while the defenders try to deflect and repair. For PVE, it adds the ability to maintain more utility, albeit at a cost. Whatcha think?

ilShadow
Sure, why not. But the structure needs to stop taking damage for 5 minutes before you can repair it. So if the event runs longer than your health pool on your structure, good bye structure. Seems fair enough, you want to tempt fate, and i want to see your volcano bases destroyed. I guess the volcano top turns from falt ground into a lava pit...as for the flowing lava...it would be very hard to stand on those metal ceilings with those temperatures around
