@Jat @Jen If this isn't too much too ask, would you consider adding something to the game?

in a lot of games I play, you can create multiple "profiles" on the same map, where you can seamlessly switch between playing as a level 50 to a brand new level 1 on the same map. I know this is possible if you go into the configs and pull out a map save, and keep it in another location not tied directly to ARK, but could you add a way in game to select between different profiles? I feel like it's a really nice thing that's small, but a lot of players would appreciate... By the way, I'm talking about Single player and Non dedicated worlds, if that wasn't already clear.

I have posted on several threads both here and on steam.

I agree a change for PVP was needed, but PVE play is very different. The game is all about the building, the super bred dinos (that they want us to do), the deals of one good dino for another. I cant fly anywhere now to collect an egg, let alone a dino :(

 

I see many posts from people saying Give WC a chance the devs are working on it.

If they are really doing something, be honest say so.  One of the WORST problems with other online games in beta/EA, even release was a lack of comms. They have staff whose job it is, is to keep people undated. WoW was absolutely terrible for this, breaking more than they fix, then nothing, then another patch, nothing, no comms at all. Eventually they might say something when after breaking so much and fixing it, would kind of be an apology (between the lines)

Dont want several 1k's of people REALLY pissed, talk to us. Tell us, Yes we know, we are doing the first change and this will be....."

You added the "Flyer nerf" very very quietly at some point in the last week or so. I cant believe it was added any earlier than that, then only picked up in the last few days. I have concerns that you claimed the "devs" tested it. Did they really? Honestly? do they even play PVE at all?

Please,

Make a real option to have different environments for PVP and PVE (and the dinos contained within) This also would then work for private run servers, to allow people to "tweak" according to the player base that play there, as well as the game hosted ones.

I like many, are now sitting here waiting to see what comes next. But lets hope we hear something soon, from the DEVs who are usually very vocal and passionate.

All the Tapejaras and Quetzals I have ever bred have mixed up points and levels and I can't even put them into ARK Breeding App to figure out how much did I lose. Most likely entire breed, and I was THIS close to get another 260+ baby. 

Entire breeding I've done so far, gone to poop. All the hours of sleep, gone to poop. Everything is basically gone to poop. So many mutations lost, so many good birds lost... Today feels like I'm attending a funeral tbh. Funeral of my own lovely Tapejaras ='(

WHY, this flyer nerf is WAY too far devs, c'mon, I play on official it's hard enough to grind without spending 15+hrs to get the resources for a few pieces of tek, and now the little comfort I did have * that 30% weight on quetzals with an anky and the swiftness of my quetz to volcano and back* you decide to take away from me?! REALLY?! We don't have years to grind for these things and it's long enough and now you make it HARDER? Oh also that's fun, no regaining stam on the back of a quetz and a 10 second wait to actually regain the stam when I do land, yeah that's the first priority to fix eh? Not the fact that my 265 mosa gets killed by a swarm of GOD eels because it couldn't move, no that's not an important issue at all. Oh and thanks, like I needed another reason to hate scorched, but now you're giving me one with making it impossible to get eggs, I'm not the only one who hates this either, apart from this nerf, everything else was amazing I will not lie, but address this nerf at least. *Oh also just a little update for you devs, my tribemates quetzal that he spent a week raising with 80% imprint just DIED in the redwoods because it couldn't regain stam and was swarmed by troodons but heyyy that's all good right?! This nerf was "tested" so it wasn't the nerfs fault -.-

You screw up my flyers the best you can do is make so a 3 person team can do a boss fight so we can get the Tek Gear, lol fix this crap update before you loose some of your player base.

Is there a way for me to revert my personal server back to a version prior to this POS?

What does 'ass'uming make of you? :) And yes. If a change to a game mechanic that can be adapted to makes a game 'unplayable' for you, then yes. You need to take a look at yourself

I'm not writing this comment to attack the devs.

Since the devs have stated that they’re going to adjust the patch based on feedback I would like to give my opinions and input.

 

The flyer nerf was developed with PVP gameplay in mind and I feel that other utilities of flyers used in gathering and taming were neglected in the development and testing of this nerf and I feel it's really unfair on PVE players.

Thus, this nerf has torn the community of players in half. And that's really sad to see devs do that to their fans.

 

Yes the PVP needs something to help balance the current raid strategies...

But I feel that this solution is breaking one of the most important fundamentals of all games.

 

The main fundamental I’m referring to is obviously, TRAVEL.

All games have a method of efficient travel. Taking that out makes the game painfully tedious.

 

Other fundamentals have been messed with too.

So many methods people used to gather and tame now need to be re-invented. Just look through youtube, there is a loooong list of guides that are now no longer applicable and must be re-invented.

This means new players can’t just jump on the wiki or youtube anymore…

These are core game strategies that’ve been drastically changed just to balance PVP which isn’t the core of the game and I feel that is a really strange thing to do to a game and the wrong way to fix PVP.

And I'm unsure that some of the methods can't even be re-invented....

E.G.

1. First quetzal tame. (What, do we have to chain bola them out of the sky from a bronto platform now?)

2. Obtaining wyvern eggs. (Are we expected to kill all the wyverns somehow to get to the eggs now?)

These are just the two main things that come to mind but there are more.

 

While I completely disagree with the flyer nerf, I wouldn't have been bothered if it was an option that could be adjusted for unofficial PVE servers and the fact that this wasn't put in is unfair.

 

Ok here are my suggestions:

 

1.

Counter Content for Flyers.

In all PVP games, when something is OP, you counter it.

And I think this game would be enriched if some OP flyer counter content was added.

How the devs do that is up to the devs but it's not hard to imagine some hard-core flyer counters.

Some counters I imagine are:

1. Make anti-air assault more efficient. Buff anti air artillery/plants and/or add more. E.g. anti-air turrets with homing missile barrages, Flak defences, more, whatever it takes.

2. Efficient ways to slow/ensnare/drop flyers, whether it is a new dino or homing bolas, or tek fields, idk, make something up.

I could go in to more detail but like I said, that's up to the devs.

Add anti-air content, PVP strategies will have to change, and if the anti-air content is balanced we'll see more diverse methods of PVP assault invented and used.

 

2.

I think the flyers should stay as they were and my first suggestion should be used, but if devs and community still want to nerf flyers with or without my first suggestion I think it should be done like this.

 

2.1

Speed.

Make the speed stat of flyers a stat that we can level up again.

Put a hard cap on the speed stat for each flyer.

Change the speed increase per skill point so that maxing speed would use nearly every after-tame level to reach the cap.

This way speed flyers are limited and aren’t over power with another high stat.

The cap would obviously need testing to be balanced correctly.

 

2.2

Stamina Reduction.

So the Stamina reduction is HUGE, bigger than it needs to be in my opinion.

Assuming that speed stats are changed and can be levelled up again, the stamina of flyers can be reduced from what it was without breaking the fundamentals I spoke about above. It might even need to be reduced from what it was to achieve balance.

But if flyer speed is staying locked at base, the stamina reduction is far too big.

Also wyverns only being able to use breath attack twice before landing severely reduces unique feature for the wyvern which in turn kills desire to get them... There is no denying that the breath is OP but there has to be another way. Perhaps the breath attack should build torpor but not use stamina or perhaps wyverns could have a separate stat just for breath that can’t be levelled up and can regen while flying.

 

2.3

Stamina Regen.

I agree with making the quetzal not regen stamina when dismounted idle flying.

I disagree with making the quetzal use stamina when dismounted idle flying.

It should be able to idle fly when dismounted indefinitely without regaining stamina since wild quetzals never land, this only makes sense.

Perhaps the stamina could regen when the quetzal is dismounted idle flying but at a HEAVILY reduced rate, like at least x0.1.

Once again that would need to be tested to balance.

 

2.4

Alternate stamina changes.

This suggestion could be used with the current patch or used alongside my other stamina suggestions.

Add a slot to dinos alongside the saddle and costume where you can add a consumable.

When riding the dino that slot can be added to the hot bar (hot bar extension, key -). Also the consumable should be usable via the extended dino options wheel.

Then add an endro stew for dinos.

What a nightmare version!  Some of the Tek stuff looks good, though I'm not really there yet.  And I like some of the other changes, like the ability to see more of an inventory on the screen at one time.  But for the most part, this is an absolute horror.  Like some others, at first I thought maybe this was a (bad) April Fool's joke.  I half expected a rollback, as I didn't believe this disaster could be well received.  Some problems:

 - Flyer nerf.  I could probably (though not happily) tolerate reduced speed, but the dramatic reduction in stamina is ridiculous!  I have to land 5 times to make a trip I used to make in one hop (and that's not always safe to do).  I often have to transport resources long distances, or travel to other bases across the island.  This change alone makes the game so painful to play I had to give it up for the day.

 - Can't double click to remove an item from a remote inventory.  At least this got fixed, but it seems it should have been discovered in testing before it made it out to the world.

 - Why can't I shift-drag to get half a stack out of remote inventory?  It (now) works to get a half stack into a remote inventory.

 - Why can I no longer drag items into a folder in a remote inventory.  I have to drag to the main folder, then move.  I always hated that T didn't transfer to the currently open folder, but this made things even worse!

 - Some items fall out of folders.  I put them into a folder, and later they're back at the top level.  Same results again and again.

 - Why is there no longer an option to take all from folder?

 - And while on the topic of folders:  Why are they deleted when you fast travel or die?  That sucks.  At least it's not a new problem.

 - Low contrast between words and background often makes it difficult to read.

 - I hate the tek-like look of inventories.  Guys, tek is end game only, and most people will never get there.  I wish I had the option to select a different look.  But at least that's not functional, and I could live with it.

 - No more button to drop an item.  Why should I have to move my hand off the mouse to perform that action?

Please tell me the Nerf for fliers is a joke?! I can see limiting how much speed is increased at one time, ND MAYBE a cap but what you've done breaks the game for me. My daughter and I play single player, no servers, and honestly if it  comes to Xbox as is.. I'm uninstalling it. Will be useless. AT LEAST give single player a toggle to turn on and off?!  Worse update ever. Been playing for a long while now and this is one thing we can not get over. We use our birds for everything. How the hell you supposed to get wyvern eggs?? Idiotic update. Keep your horses, and all that and fix the darn birds!!!!!!!!!

Am I only one to worry more about the future volcano eruption than the flyer nerf ? Got a base at the bottom of it will metal enough ? or will you add materials to resist ... or simply had to move everything ?

About this patch I LOVE way to tam the equus xD so funny well thinking. And having so fun with the iguanodon, changing bipede / quadripede is really nice. I met leed into our bay and was a bit sad to kill it so easily but necesary to ride our raft safely.

Flyin nerf does't bother me that much, my argies are always full so, used to fly very slow xD just a bit sad seeing my 216 argie become 191 and won't go over 205 but, that's it.

New UI bit strange but has to get used to, but this morning i got huge bug with fridge, game crashed will opening it T.T so can't open 3 fridge over 4 ;; those who got meat xD.

It's survival game so, to me to manage changes

I was having hard enough of a time as a solo keeper for a small tribe (the only one playing atm) just trying to keep things going before this patch.   But now on SE this is just retarded; I can't even get to half the bases with gear/food anymore without a serious amount of spare time.  And forget wyvern egg farming or milking.

It's so bad I've taken to using rexes/wolves to get around over the god damn wyverns we all spent so bloody long breeding just so we could actually get ready for bosses etc.   Welp; this will now completely lock me out of anything but the bare essentials of keeping the existing dinos alive because everything I need to do is spread out over the map and it will take literally hours now to get that work done; time as a solo player with a job just can't invest.

 

This pretty much ruins most of my play atm; the only saving grace is at least the equus seem to be on SE and we're having fun looking for them.   Very very slowly looking for them...

In fact, it does for people who have a 40+ hours week job and a wife/kids. Unemployed/Students/Unprofessionnal players who whined about the flyers making the game too easy won a nice round, making it "unplayable" for working people.

My previous post got lost in the void so I'll synthetize what I was trying to say :

I pretty much like the concept of ground caravans, but dinos are now way to dumb to make it time-efficient. Going on a gathering run with Brontos/Paracers use more time to unstuck them from rocks and/or wild dinos and/or tamed escort dinos than actually farming. It's a minor setback when you can spend a whole Sunday running a caravan, but on a working day, if you're somehow far from the gathering points, you have no time to do so.

Same thing for taming. Roaming around on a dino when you just look for a random creature to hunt is okay. But when you play a limited amount of time per day, using a flyer to check the creature you seek from above is way more time-efficient than roaming around with a ground dino. I spent more time waiting for my Tapejara to regen his stam than looking for my targets.

My thoughts on this are :

- Frightened wild Tapejara flee at 200+% speed. Nothing can keep up with them anymore, so you spend way more time looking for the fleeing one than actually trying to get it.

- As frightened Tapejaras can fly almost up to the sky limit, which is now dangerous for all flyers, they are now extremely risky to capture, as even Quezals can't follow them up there. (No more standing regen, have to land to regen !)

(And yes, Tapejaras are frightened by anything, including wildlife around them so they OFTEN end up in "never-landing" mode.)

- Wild Quetzals can fly endlessly and actuelly NEVER land. Why would a tamed Quetzal loose the ability ?

- A landed Quetzal can't defend himself. If you land anywhere near an agressive carnivore, you're gonna have a bad time, especially near a pack of Allosaurus (that see you as a big piece of meat from a very high distance and almost paralyse you with the Alpha Bite) or a pack of Troodons, making you immediately dead meat (as someone else experimented in a post above). Just don't tell me "watch where you land" for Troodons, you have to land so much that you might often land near a pack of tiny ground-colored stamina eating carnivores without seeing them.

- Tapejaras and Pteras were nice for guerilla tactics, hit and run. Now you're like a plastic duck for a skilled sniper, auto-turrets and Plant X/Y. Thylacoleos saved the day but you're still flying plastic ducks on Tapejaras and Pteras.

Update 256 is nice, but flyers nerf make some aspects of the game unplayable (Frightened Tapejaras) and/or REALLY time consuming (Rare/Uncommon Resources Gathering). WildCard will lose most of Ark's casual players who WANT TO TAKE THE TIME to enjoy the game but don't HAVE it.

I do understand that WildCard wanted to make the game HARD, but flyers didn't made it EASY, they made it TIME-EFFICIENT.

I'm sorry to say it, but WildCard only wants to make Ark a niche game for no-life-at-all players.

Small note on flyers being OP in PvP : S**tload of Plant X and auto-turrets everywhere usually work nice. Dimorphodons can be useful too. Be creative.

Come on please fix the flyers. my quetz cant even make it from my base to the volcano without 2 stops and my base is at the water around the volcano! my wyvern cant make it to my water pen either as you nerfed everything and returned no levels to them was 200 now 175. it only had 120 movement speed. now has 300 stamina also. this is a total joke!

I look at these forum posts and see a lot of people complaining about the flyers yet I see Jat commenting on Twitter that the Nerf was found positive showing that Devs only see what they want and care nothing for there players.

A note to the Devs, let the game die and know you killed it yourselves.  There is a post or a call so to speak for everyone that does not agree with this patch to go and review the game and let others know what they have done, enough bad reviews will keep others from spending money on a now totally broken game.

I already posted a negative review on Steam, and I refuse to play again until this is fixed.

My ptera went from 2500 stamina to... 500.

That's reduced to 20% of what it was.  Not a 20% reduction, which would have been reasonable to re-balance.

And that wasn't the only part of this nerf.

The Devs have this nasty habit of over-nerfing.

Now, if they put a fix in so private servers can opt out of this, like they did for the dino nerfs, fine.  Then I can play again.  But the fact that they are ignoring this huge segment of their community that plays on private is rather sad, and will spell the doom of the game if the devs don't wake up.

No, it does not. 

I have a fiancee, two dogs, six cats, friends, and a job an hour away to and from that both the fiancee and I work, eight hours a day 5 1/2 days a week.
