PS4 - Private Nitrado server - Ragnarok

 

Haven't been on for a few days, so I jumped on and first made sure everyone was fed, while doing the meat run, I came across a amazing looking event 100+ Tek Stego, and to no one's surprise, took it back to tame.

Checked in on the breeding pens for my ravagers, and got a new burnt orange body color mutation, and then bred a couple of my color ravs together ... got a Cyan body with a Purple spine, with a blue spine, and with a yellow spine. Also have neon green with variety of spine colors.  Really hoping to get a yellow, pink, black, or albino body mutation soon.

Saw a 135 & 145 Rex pair running near the lava area, and the 135 is an event Red and White male.... might tame him later, the 145 is white female, but I already have one of those.

I saw a couple event colored 135 + Allos, so might be taming those up soon too.

However I think my next plan of attack, is to transfer many of the Tek Stegos and event colored dinos to my SP game, so I don't need to worry about then starving this fall, when I take some vacation time to hit the woods for bow season.

I would suggest a Dimorph, as they can help defend you, if you get attacked.  Try to find a high level flying around the redwood beaches, and bola it. Then tranq it  to tame.  Becareful, if there are other Dimorphs close by, they will attack you. Boost their HP & Melee after taming.  They are easier to tame than Monkeys, and provide better protection.

Dimorphs are really good. I am going to breed a group of like 10 to be my personal bodyguards.

I was reading up on the dimo actually; does seem like it’ll be worth my time. The map shows its habitat spreading further south than the redwoods so I’ll keep my eyes peeled. 

Traditional? Or compound? I inherited a traditional (bob Evans?) with a 55lb pull. Took me a week to develop the strength to draw it. Bummer though, I lost it in a divorce before I could use it.

Finally got my Tek Replicator made and placed on Ragnarok. Besides farming for that I spent most of the night farming premade structures, crafting extra load out sets and breeding bears for Aberration. Got my bear line to guaranteed 224 hatch red babies, then my buddy furthered the line by getting some new hp into em and a gold/white colour combo set. Transferred a whole.premade stone base with all the fixin's plus 4 bears, 2 dimorphs, Baryonyx and a few utility tames into the obby.

 

We spawned on Ab and I got lucky with only my 4th death (I started a new toon) ending up near the community transmitter. We met up, made a spawn bed there and went off searching for a spot. We ended up near the edge of Fertile zone and blue, on this ledge we built on before. Great spot and im real excited to get building there. We already have our plans and spots for our crab traps, spino traps etc. I stayed up waaaay too late last night, 2am and I start work at 630am.. so tired!

Mostly Red body, with black and red spikes on the spine.

Yeah they have a large territory... lots of them in the swamp, but if you drop one, there are so many baddies who could attack before it tames up. Not a bad idea to put some spikes around it for protection while it tames up.

Compound ... I destroyed my shoulders back in the 90's playing Rugby in college. Even with 75% letoff, it is getting harder to pull back, as my shoulders get worse with age. I've dropped the poundage to around 62-63 and that helps a bit. But I think a crossbow will be in my future as my shoulder deteriorates.  Missed a 140" buck last year by about 6 inches. He was about 5 yards farther than I had guessed when taking the shot. My buddy got him a week later from the same spot. arrrrggghhhh!

Got home last night from my business trip and crashed. Woke up this morning and ran some errands. Now, it's time to dust off my Xbox and play some Ark! I'm off until Tuesday, so the wife and I should be able to get some quality play time in.

Except Saturday, College Football kicks off Saturday, so I'll be occupied with gameday festivities every Saturday until the season ends.

If youre at the portal rings, stand at the red one, look forwads to other rings. Go left and back a tad. Youll see blue spinos, its above that base. Look for the big beam in the sky

Realised I’d left all my main gear at my Scorched base for my server character but as the map has rotated to Ab, it’s too late to go back.

Thankfully, I made a load of mindwipes at my Rag server characters base so crafted up a bunch of new custom consumables. Realised again that I didn’t have enough resources to craft a full new load out (I don’t hoard many resources so that I still have to grind a little for how infrequently I play the game).

Decided to finally craft my pump shotty BP (365% damage) but was missing polymer so naturally went on a mass obsidian run with my weight Wyvern and Mantis on meteorite island.

Pretty expensive BP for a solo player, so lucked out with a 48% skill bonus on the first craft bringing it up to 494% damage. Since I’m on my unofficial server I have floating damage on, and wow 158 damage per pellet. Can’t wait to use that on Rock Drakes in the trench - only to likely lose it on the first attempt getting eggs lol.

Xbox - Nitrado Unofficial Server - Aberration 

So I had an attempt to find the community teleporter that was reported to be around portal but no luck there. So I went back to my base to grind out the last few levels to 35 to access tge drops.

Just as I hit level 35 @DJRone89 saved the day and escorted me to the teleporter. Turns out had I just gone round the corner to where I died after my first attempt I would have found it lol.

So I downloaded the three spinos and all the supplies I had uploaded from Ragnarok and travelled back to base. Haha ravagers and raptors try mauling me now ! 

Started building the base. On Aberration I am not going for asthetic builds but going for builds that are more functional and more durable. Built the main build completely out of metal and just a box build lol. No thatch roofs here. Planning on extending out the main build to maybe include a small breeding barn or maybe dino storage but thats not my main worry at the moment  Got the main furnishings in, vaults, fridges, smithy and fabricators. Installed the lights and instantly regretted my decision to build out of metal. OMG the glare off the metal from the lights, I had forgotten how bad it could be, so going to have to spray paint all the metal structures black. Still need to do more work on the build but way to tired after work to be staying up late lol.

Are there Tek dinos on Aberration?

Where are you built on Aberration?

I am a big time breeder, so usually my first concern is figuring out where I set up my breeding area. Do you know of any decent sized areas on Aberration that would allow me to build a decent size breeding barn?

I have to say, since I returned to reading the forums and playing Ark, I have really enjoyed reading what you do.

First question.

Yes. Seen a few tek stegos and a fair few tek raptors have mauled my face off. The tek dinos should be on all maps where their respective counter parts spawn.

Second question

I have built in the Fallen Nexus. On the South Eastern shore of the lake. Built in the exact same spot in my last play through with my tribe. Its a nice safe spot, usually... apart from a stray crab or two.

Third queation.

To be honest I havent a clue. Other people probably know more than I do, I only know a few areas of the map well. I guess it depends on how big you would like.

Glad you enjoy the read. I like sharing my experiences and love to hear about others storys too. Wish there was more of it on the forums. Surprised anyone understands what I say half the time because I seem to post when I am uber tired and half asleep plus the phone doesnt help and I just word splurge... lol

What consitutes a "decent sized breeding area" to you? Theres a lot of flat open spots around and even a few not-so-common (up on cliffs in Fertile, Mushroom forest, cliffs of blue etc) 

If you are creative and use cliff platforms you can make almost any area flat and extend the cliff edges by placing them flush with the ground. 

 

Last Ab server I played was able to make a 40x30x30 castle ontop a cliff no larger than 5x4 by using 8 cliff platforms clipped close in another

What I was trying to get at was you can make this in 90% of all spots big enough for a small base with the use of cliff platforms. You will have no problem makng a 10x10 or 15x etc breeding pen. Theres atleast 5 different spots for big bases (multiple 10x+ buildings) along the fertile river biolume edge (the walking path side) 

Each side of the fertile to biolume waterfalls have nice big base locations with charge nodes and whatnot. Just walk around with 100 thatch foundations and throw down some. 15x15 squares to get an idea of how big the areas are

 

Edit: the actual area i built the castle was right between both waterfalls, in a valley on the edge. The actual castle was on the cliff edge to biolume and I couldve built a base that size on the ground there as well but wanted a cliff base

The wife and I played a lot today. Started out feeding all the tames, then decided we wanted a Wooly Rhino. Already tamed a high level Male Terror Bird, so we went out hunting for a high level female. 

Scoured the entire map and found only high level males... We returned to base to regroup and as our base came into view, I noticed a Rex walking around our perimeter. Spyglassed him and he was a level 150. Since we were rigged for taming, R and I decided to tame him. 

Knocked him out and he had the worst stats I've ever seen on a Rex. Killed him and made some more Megalosaurus kibble. Went out hunting for a high level Male Theri. Found one, picked him up and dropped him in the taming pen. Knocked him out and started taming. 

R accidentally hit him three times fighting off a pego that somehow glitched inside the walls. Killed him and returned to base. Was crafting up tranq darts when R ran inside screaming "There's a Giga in the base!!!" I climbed the ladder to the top of our workshop and hopped on Electra (Lightning Wyvern). Flew towards the Giga and laughed as I realized my brother T was returning from a meat run on Aralakh. 

He hopped off and we sat around the fire chatting for awhile. Decided to go kill death worms. Found two and killed both. Have enough horns now to tame a max level Mantis. 

T and I went hunting for a high level female Terror Bird again, while R went hunting for a high level Mantis. Both searches turned up empty and we met back at the base. 

On her way back, R spotted a Alpha Rex, so we all jumped on Wyverns and went to kill it. T on Dracarys (Fire Wyvern) R on Smaug (Poison Wyvern) and myself on Electra. Made short work of the Alpha Rex and returned to base. 

Showed T the green and yellow Giga in the highlands, he really likes her so he's decided to tame it tomorrow. Already named her Packers. 

It was getting late so we all logged shortly after returning from the Highlands.

But randomly, an old tribe member from when we were on the server years ago logged in to the server and found he was still in the tribe and everything has been saved. was like a breath of fresh air.

did a good meat run (4 brontos and a alpha raptor standing next to each other was a good start) and made everyone happy then logged off!

couldn't agree more. shame there is not a holiday option or something that stops the timer for 2 weeks or so.

Would say most of the people with kids have holidays around the same time. makes it awkward.
