Survivors across ALL Platforms will be receiving a special Evolution Event perk this weekend! It's already live now and will remain active until Monday the 30th at 12PM EST. All Official Servers will be undergoing this evolutionary change which includes:

1.5x Harvesting Rate
1.5x Taming Rate
1.5x EXP Rate

ARK: Survival Evolved and the Scorched Earth Expansion Pack now include support for NVIDIA Ansel -- a revolutionary new way to capture in-game shots.  Compose shots from any position, adjust with post-process filters, capture HDR images in high-fidelity formats, and share the screenshots in 360 via a smartphone, PC or VR headset.

Now let’s get to the contest!

There were 3 potential categories for survivors to enter their shots into and they were the following:

Three Categories

Super Resolution: These should be taken at 8x Super Resolution. Players can optionally use Depth of Field effects accessible in Spectator mode by pressing the [Delete] key.

Panoramic 360 Stereoscopic 3D: These should be taken at 4x Super Resolution,  in 360 Stereoscopic 3D mode. We will crop them to 2D for web display, while also providing the 3D version for viewing within VR display.

Freeform: Any settings, whacky and creative use of Ansel filters are encouraged. Adding humorous titles/captions in Photoshop is also acceptable for this category!

The controlling of the animals while holding a weapon actually isn't that tough. You just have to get used to it.

Well you do get the point i was making tho right? It's one of the worst mechanics i've ever experienced personally. I guess a longneck on a frog can be useful but actually using a weapon like this or sword on a raptor? Forget about it! Expecially on console lol

Did my eyes deceive me or did I see 100 damage per shot from the Tek rifle? That's worse than a good Assault Rifle O_O

These values may not be super accurate as they were recording during pre-release, definitely some tweaking to do! Also here's something I posted about bosses elsewhere:

The bosses will be different now, they were definitely doable before but I think most opted not to because it wasn't worth it. Now you'll have a reason to, apart from trophies/dossiers. In the new system there are 3 types of difficulties: Easy/Medium/Hard - each tier awards a different bit of TEK, and a different amount of Element, and aye we're certainly open to continuing to iterate it once we get this out to the masses :)

Sounds great. Both the Megapethicus and Broodmother are definitely doable. Tons of Rexes deal with the Spider. A Gallimimus and a rocket launcher is super fun against the Ape but that Dragon *shakes head while crying* The arena is amazing but those Dimorphodons and Pteras are just too tough to take down when they're flying around like crazy. 

Can't wait for you to finish up the game so you'll be able to focus on certain aspects of the game :)

Dragon is a little less silly now, no longer just flies around in the air for ages at a time blasting you with fireballs - more of a reasonable fight :P

Oh, so you made changes to all the fights? It was hard to see if anything had changed in the Broodmother showcase with all the Rex butts sticking out of her xD

I watched the video. Firstly, has it been even recorded in 1080p? The video is so pixelated even in full hd mode.

Secondly, the Tek Tier preview did not make me excited at all. It only makes me worry that once one of the tribe get hand on it, they would obliterate every player on their server. The abillities of power armour are so powerful there is no way to counter it. People will start to block obelisks to not let anyone getting Tek Tier stuff, no one would love to lose hundreds hours of work, because of overpowered tier. It's bad that you did not mention at all in the video how and if players may counter it.

Controls of jet pack are very clunky and dev's struggles with using it proves that.

It seems that all creatures wouldn't make it, only 3 were showed.

If only more Quality of Live improvments had been adding to the game... it would have been much more enjoyable game.

@Jat I hope this time we won't be waiting for Digest another month like for New Year's one. Please, let there be some significant questions and answears for game's future.

Sitting here, scratching my head as to why the Tek tier items aren't able to be used to fight the bosses...

I get that you're trying to stop players farming Element by using equipment made from Element, however isn't that the entire point of end game? Best armour, best weapons, best items - now let's go kill the boss(es) and beat the game? Instead of taking 30 minutes, or whatever, to kill a boss you equip the best armour, weapons and items available (i.e. End game content) and go in there with your upgraded team, killing the boss in 10-15 minutes with minimal losses (1/4 as opposed to 1/2 or 2/3 of your assault force).

ARK isn't just about PvP (which is literally the only place this Tek tier equipment can be used, so all those on official servers - enjoy that), this is also about PvE and even Single Player/Solo Play elements of your game - by denying players the use of these items for boss fights, you're effectively denying them quality of life you talk about in your video. Defeating bosses more easily is a quality of life issue.

We saw it in your video - how many Rexes did you have? 12 or so? A single/solo player isn't going to want to have to go out and breed/tame 12 Rexes to sacrifice for every boss fight. Tek tier increases the survivability and lethality of the player and their tames, therefore making players want to use it - especially to defeat the bosses. A tribe doesn't want to have to come back from a boss fight and breed/tame another 6-12 Rexes just to do another boss fight. Especially when there are items in-game that we all know would reduce our losses/increase our damage output.

I'm looking forward to the patch and what it has to offer but I'm disappointed, to say the least, that the "End game" content, can't be used to defeat "End game" bosses.

At the very least I would ask that the use of Tek tier items in boss fights be made a server option.

Every new feature since SE release has been to aid alpha tribes on Official PVP servers, nothing else.

Only 4 animals made it to the patch, but to be honest. I prefer to have major features and Quality of Live improvements being added to the game than delaying them to add dinosaurs. Dinosaurs are trivial and can be added at any point of development, even after premiere.
