Does the server continue to run, or will this stop the server until the update is applied? I showed up this morning and I am not quite sure if I was offline or not. Thanks! B1ackwatch Posted January 11, 2016 Share Posted January 11, 2016 Don't know for sure on anything since I don't have a dedicated server but my understanding of electronics would suggest that if it doesn't kick the dedicated server out of the game than you would have to shutdown the server and restart Ark on it to get the update. Mine completely shut down the server. I dont think there is a way around this for xbox updates. The good thing is they are pretty rare. With a game update we shouldnt need to restart the server since that information isnt needed client side. We will see, though. This is all new to everyone involved. I have not heard about anyone complaining about this. From my understanding the Ark server writes all changes onto the hard drive every 15 minutes. So, if we were to loose power progress of up to 15 minutes might be gone. However, I think Microsoft has enough common sense to perform a graceful shutdown of anything that is currently running before the reboot. I would assume that no data will get lost.
