Primitive Plus Update!


Hello to all my fellow survivors!

While it may seem that Primitive+ has reached a stalling point, I can assure you that there is a ton of work being done behind the scenes.  As we near closer to the inevitable launch of the core game, I’ve been brainstorming on how that content will interact with Primitive+.  In order for primitive players to experience the same gameplay I’ve realized that Primitive+ will need a tek tier of it’s own!

While you shouldn’t expect anything too futuristic or outside of what’s generally considered primitive, there may be some things that don’t align with the core primitive experience that a lot of players seek.  Certain compromises will have the be made so that things like end-game content that might be nestled inside of high level caves are achievable for those on Primitive+

In the next update you can expect to see Primitive+ updated to be in line with the current ARK version in terms of content and gameplay.  There will also be some new content in the next patch that I’ve been working on.  Going forward, there will be a monthly update that adds new content and refines things that already exist.  The last patch will contain only balance changes and bug fixes.  I don’t want to leave you out of the loop on what’s in store for the future, so without further ado, the tentative 1.4 patch list scheduled for 1/15.  Keep in mind this will not include the bug fixes that will be included (I’ll be sure to update the patch notes to include bug fixes as we near closer to the patch date).

Primitive Plus 1.4

  • Compound Bow - Increased accuracy / More damage
  • New Lumber Structure Tier - New Windows/Doors
  • New Brick/Concrete Tier
  • Advanced Workbench - Reduces the overall cost (resources) of items crafted
  • Yurt - A tent that you may drop and pick up which also allows for structure placement
  • Cooking Recipes
  • Memory usage reduced / texture optimization






Here’s a few more things that are on the drawing board for future patches:

  • Alchemy Table
  • Rope Bridge
  • Battering Ram
  • Greek Fire
  • Throwing Daggers
  • Blow Gun
  • More cooking recipes
  • Industrial Forge




Keep in mind, things that are on the drawing board are tentative.  Be sure to check future posts for the specifics of what’s going into each patch. OK, back to the lab!

Player Procedurally Generated Maps!


The Procedurally Generated Map system allows players to make their own ARK maps by determining a myriad of landscape options from the heights of mountains, depths of valleys, and the number of lakes, rivers or oceans, to the kinds of each biome they want, and more! Now let’s get to the contest!

There were 3 potential categories for survivors to enter their shots into and they were the following:

Three Categories

Super Resolution: These should be taken at 8x Super Resolution. Players can optionally use Depth of Field effects accessible in Spectator mode by pressing the [Delete] key.

Panoramic 360 Stereoscopic 3D: These should be taken at 4x Super Resolution,  in 360 Stereoscopic 3D mode. We will crop them to 2D for web display, while also providing the 3D version for viewing within VR display.

Freeform: Any settings, whacky and creative use of Ansel filters are encouraged. Adding humorous titles/captions in Photoshop is also acceptable for this category!

This is an award given to Survivors to celebrate the amazing structures you build. These bases are judged based upon a number of different factors such as their creativity, uniqueness, how fun of a base it is, the difficulty of building it, the functionality it provides and much more!

Idk where to go for this because I've never posted in a forum before... but the redwoods in server:

( NA-PS4PrimitivePlus4 ) is broken... nothing ever spawns in the redwoods. Therefore it makes harvesting meat for our Dino's a task. If someone sees this please spread the word.. The redwoods have been broken for almost a week now... please help

why not stop with all these bullpoop updates and actually fix the core game. Dino's falling though floors, Dino's not spawning if too many people are on, structures not placing properly, megasourus spawning under the maps (yes still don't have any on my island map going on almost a month now) no new structures no way top skirt houses built on pillars still, i think you should fix the core game mechanics before you keep putting out this bullpoop, get your priorities straight

@Jen , Ced for the Tek-Tier in Primitive+ why not go the fantasy route instead of the Sci-Fi route? Magic instead of bullets, spells instead of rockets if you catch my drift. That way you should be able to balance the end-game stuff while keeping Primitive+ a unique experience that is different from the main game.

I actualy love the sound of this idea i wonder if Ced would do it. : o
