  • Patch 255: Electrophorus, Microraptor, Ammonite, Thylacoleo, & Tek Structures!

    large.58b29aae77ff4_ThylacoleoPounce.jpg

Patch 255 is another tech-focused patch introducing brand new TEK structures for Survivors to enhance their building experience, a new head and facial hair style, 30 explorer notes, plus four new creatures to discover, tame, and train as you explore the ARK.

With over 20 new TEK Structure pieces to play with, Survivors will be able to upgrade their bases to this new defensive tier. Similarly to the TEK released in 254, Survivors must defeat the bosses to gather the TEKnowledge necessary to use the engrams and craft the items.

Alongside the TEK tileset, we are also introducing the TEK Forcefield. The TEK Forcefield is a large dome, adjustable in size, which is powered by Element that protects all allied creatures, structures, and players within it.  The forcefield provides great resistance to incoming attacks and prevents non-home members from entering the structure.

    large.Ammonite.jpg

    large.Dossier_Ammonite.jpg

Ammonitina Multiamicus, one of the more unique creatures of the sea, the Ammonite resembles a nautilus, but much bigger. For unknown reasons, an attack on an Ammonite brings forth the wrath of all neighboring sea creatures, who will fervently defend it. This makes it a challenge to kill one, though the rewards are often worth it - the shell itself is valuable (as it is rare) and the bile can be used to concoct a variety of poison antidotes.

    large.Electrophorus.jpg

    large.Electrophorus.jpg

    large.58b29ab61229b_Electrophoruszap!.jpg

Electrophorus Beluadomito, a species of Knifefish. Electrophorus uses an electrical charge to zap its prey, bringing down smaller fish and eels. Tribes have been known to capture and tame schools of Electrophorus in order to use them for taking down larger aquatic animals.

    large.Microraptor.jpg

    large.Microraptor.jpg

Microraptor Gnarilongus, resembling a bird with a reptilian face, the Microraptor is a vicious predator that is instantly aggressive to anything its size or smaller (including humans). Able to jump, run and do short glides, Microraptor is incredibly dangerous alone or in packs, and when trained, they can take riders right out of the battle by dismounting them and stunning them during combat.

    large.58b29ad188e26_ThylacoleoHunting.jpg

    large.dossier_Thylacoleo.jpg

Thylacoleo Furtimorsus, also known as the "marsupial lion", Thylacoleo is a powerful predator native to the island's redwood forests. A strong bite - the strongest of any land mammal - and bolt cutter-like teeth, make this creature a formidable ambush predator, leaping from above to crush the necks of its prey. These fearless mammals have been known to climb up Redwood trees and pounce great distances as their prey come into sight.

Primal Survival has been delayed for unknown period of time. Jen posted this infromation on her twitter some time ago this month.

Thank you Lewiatan for being polite. I don't have a twitter so I didn't know this information.

how do you unlock the doors etc? i do not see any engrams in the tech section (though the server i am playing is still running scorched earth :( maybe that is the limit (sadly limited in choice of servers on the ps4))
Also when will we be able to host servers on our pc's for the ps4 version? i am sure it was meant to be last month?

The patch only dropped for PC so far, Xbox and PS4 are un-touched

That explains why I can't find it, hope they fix that soon,  starting to feel like they really do not care about their console customers.

No, they need to send the patch through console Q&A which takes longer thann just fdropping it on steam, sony's Q&A is far more rigourus than Xbox's so it generally goes PC, Xbox, PS4

I'm primitive.... Is it sooo insane to want to be able to smear ammonite bile all over myself? I get not being allowed pheromone darts, but it would help with taming (namely solo) to be able to 'use'/'remote use' it on me and my pets (turtles).

Also, I'm primitive PvE, Dismounting pets are mostly worthless trophy tames... why? Why not change that? Why not give everyone a legitimate reason to use the toy lance you made (A real lance would kill things... that's what real lances were for... killing things while mounted...)  Like what if there was a freaking person sized un-tame-able parasite thing (like a mosquito?) that 'mounts' wild dinos and say buffs them up a little bit and makes them aggressive (Like it drinks CSF and uses a neurotoxin to force it's food to defend it.)

Guys, why is TheCenter always neglected like this....

You made it an official map, part of the game, can you also please keep it up to date?
If not, drop the official tag from it seriously...

It's not neglected it just needs a lot more work in some areas for updates than the Island does. The Boss arenas for example requires a lot more work as it would likely require the addition of 2 more boss arenas before the new boss system can be implemented.

Yes the Center does seem to be behind on content compared to the Island, but it is not neglected.

This update looks awesome. Not looking forward to getting landed on by a Thylacoleo. Marsupial tree climbing lion? Is this a drop-bear? Drop-cat?

    Anyway, thanks!

Sorry but that's no longer an acceptable state.

Once you made TheCenter an official map, your content ought to be released on those maps at the same time.
And I'm not even bothered by the boss system or the arena's, this is purely about the new dino's not being present on the map until someone adds these spawn points.
Either make spawn logic shared that they can be deployed faster or keep updates back so all official maps receive it.

Electrophorus are really annoying, they stun you from afar so that you can have a good nap at the bottom of the sea

Ive played since day one on xbox(1000+ hours) and I've played on each map and I've never seen a single one or heard of anyone getting one. Maybe I'm just unlucky. Ive never tried to farm them just seen others try. Maybe I will give it a try.

pvp meta is still within 10 dinos. this game will get dull pretty quick once you've released all the dinos. so you might want to leave a few post-release and start concentrating on polishing this turd. balancing in itself is worth a few months with the bugs creeping in every line of code you tough.

    Get this viral...

So...the microraptor...I can't figure out how to get it to perch on my shoulder...is this messed up or do I just not know what key to use to go from having it in both my hands when I "pick-up" to going to my shoulder?  I tap double "F" and it goes to the ground.  Can someone help to tell me if there is a glitch with this dino or if there is a specific key I need to use to get it on my shoulder?

    Thank you in advance!
