Patch 255: Electrophorus, Microraptor, Ammonite, Thylacoleo, & Tek Structures!

    large.58b29aae77ff4_ThylacoleoPounce.jpg

Patch 255 is another tech-focused patch introducing brand new TEK structures for Survivors to enhance their building experience, a new head and facial hair style, 30 explorer notes, plus four new creatures to discover, tame, and train as you explore the ARK.

With over 20 new TEK Structure pieces to play with, Survivors will be able to upgrade their bases to this new defensive tier. Similarly to the TEK released in 254, Survivors must defeat the bosses to gather the TEKnowledge necessary to use the engrams and craft the items.

Alongside the TEK tileset, we are also introducing the TEK Forcefield. The TEK Forcefield is a large dome, adjustable in size, which is powered by Element that protects all allied creatures, structures, and players within it.  The forcefield provides great resistance to incoming attacks and prevents non-home members from entering the structure.

    large.Ammonite.jpg

    large.Dossier_Ammonite.jpg

Ammonitina Multiamicus, one of the more unique creatures of the sea, the Ammonite resembles a nautilus, but much bigger. For unknown reasons, an attack on an Ammonite brings forth the wrath of all neighboring sea creatures, who will fervently defend it. This makes it a challenge to kill one, though the rewards are often worth it - the shell itself is valuable (as it is rare) and the bile can be used to concoct a variety of poison antidotes.

    large.Electrophorus.jpg

    large.Electrophorus.jpg

    large.58b29ab61229b_Electrophoruszap!.jpg

Electrophorus Beluadomito, a species of Knifefish. Electrophorus uses an electrical charge to zap its prey, bringing down smaller fish and eels. Tribes have been known to capture and tame schools of Electrophorus in order to use them for taking down larger aquatic animals.

    large.Microraptor.jpg

    large.Microraptor.jpg

Microraptor Gnarilongus, resembling a bird with a reptilian face, the Microraptor is a vicious predator that is instantly aggressive to anything its size or smaller (including humans). Able to jump, run and do short glides, Microraptor is incredibly dangerous alone or in packs, and when trained, they can take riders right out of the battle by dismounting them and stunning them during combat.

    large.58b29ad188e26_ThylacoleoHunting.jpg

    large.dossier_Thylacoleo.jpg

Thylacoleo Furtimorsus, also known as the "marsupial lion", Thylacoleo is a powerful predator native to the island's redwood forests. A strong bite - the strongest of any land mammal - and bolt cutter-like teeth, make this creature a formidable ambush predator, leaping from above to crush the necks of its prey. These fearless mammals have been known to climb up Redwood trees and pounce great distances as their prey come into sight.

Are the Tek Doors powered by Element? What happens if the element runs out, doors are open? How long does 1 element power them for?

Doors do not require element to power them. Furthermore, you are able to adjust the settings for doors to open and close automatically, how long you want them to stay open, or if you wish, you can disable their autonomous features so that you can open and close them like regular doors.

Nice stuff that's more or less useless because of the structure proximity error "to many structures nearby" for the love of the games sake revert the changes your KILLING the PVE servers of ark and now this stupid Dino cap that some monkey in a suit decided your going to great lengths to kill off the ARK fan base

You should be ashamed of yourselves

That's good to know, thanks Cia!

I'm pretty lazy so i'd want the autonomous feature! xD

pvp meta is still within 10 dinos. this game will get dull pretty quick once you've released all the dinos. so you might want to leave a few post-release and start concentrating on polishing this turd. balancing in itself is worth a few months with the bugs creeping in every line of code you tough.

The animals imo are pretty well done. But here's my question that has been bothering me that's about the past spotlights.

ive noticed that the animals have better roars and sounds in the spotlights than they do in game. Or at least they are different. A good example is the allosaurus spotlight vs ingame. Completely different and to be honest I would've preferred the spotlight roar.

do you make different sounds for the thrill of the spotlight or do you change them after the spotlight?

Many items that have been clamped in terms of dammage and armor were very expensive to make.  Blueprints were very rare and difficult fo find and often traded for very high prices.

Bases and tames that were lost to raiders because of missing characters and an inability to log in to defend (or even to keep the generators running) took a lot of effort to

    build and tame.

These updates that weaken tribes without even a battle are intrusive, unfair, and make effort expended a waste of time.  Ark survivors start to wonder "why bother".

My wife and I each have over 6000 hours in Ark play.  We are wondering "why bother".  I can only hope that the devs at Wildcard are listening.

At the same time, we are supposed to become excited about Tek Tier.  LOL  This is the definition of contradiction.  I am starting to look at other games.

The wiki page for primal survival said it would be released this month. I knew it wasn't going to happen but I was really hoping it would. Is there a way I can get info updates on it? It's really the only part of the game that I'm interested in right now. I'm not interested in playing halo.

Primal Survival has been delayed for unknown period of time. Jen posted this infromation on her twitter some time ago this month.

Just to clarify everybody's concern on Primal Survival and everybody's misunderstanding of Thier concern. First and foremost people understand that it was being delayed even before the crap way that Jen confirmed it through a Twitter reply. We didn't expect the game out last year or in February, that's just how game development works. Now why everybody keeps asking and whining is because of the lack of info on it or updates. It could be Wildcard or it could be Instinct Games, either way the lack of info and status updates is ridiculous. Last they said was a info drop about the game was to come in Jan. Did that happen? No.... Nope nope nope. They don't even have the decency to mention the delay again on here, no instead they think Jen's response on Twitter (yes response because why would they actually initiate info on it?) Is enough for people to find on their own and accept it. The level of unprofessionalism is appalling. All the fans wanted was something on it on this post since I'm looking at the calendar and this should be the last post in February.
