  • Introducing the Deinonychus!

    Deinonychus

    Common Name: Deinonychus
    Species: Deinonychus magna pede
    Time: Cretaceous
    Diet: Carnivore
    Temperament: Aggressive

    Wild
By the time you hear the scurrying claws of the Deinonychus, it's often too late. Superior hunters, they leap from a hiding place and pounce on their prey. The Deinonychus is an agile climber as well, jumping from wall ledge to wall ledge as it seeks high vantage points to lie in wait.

A hungry Deinonychus tends to be fearless and will hunt prey much larger than itself, latching onto a dinosaur's back with its sickle-shaped claws, then starting to feed before its victim is even dead. While it likes its meat fresh, a Deinonychus isn't above scavenging a carcass if no other food is available.

    Domesticated
Raising a Deinonychus in captivity requires an ample food supply, as they have a fast metabolism to match their high activity level. The Deinonychus is also fiercely territorial near nests with eggs, even if the eggs aren't its own. This makes breeding successive generations a hazardous process.

Unless raised from eggs, they cannot be tamed; the hunter instinct of a wild Deinonychus is so strong that it reflexively pounces on a would-be master.

When will this creature make its first appearance on the ARK?  Find out more soon!

Please tell if you will add it to ARK mobile, and tell where it would be spawned in. RIP Pteranodons

Doubtful it will be the size of. A troodon. If you look it up, the skeletal remains put it just under the size of. A velociraptor, so roughly Pachy size or slightly larger. Good addition and one of my favorite Dinos! Even before Ark! Correction my research suggest that this dino was larger then velociraptor!

Lol, servers are all down right now for official pve on Xbox and ps4, also pvp

But dont worry the problems that are a direct result of failed coding or unstable servers isnt answered half the time, then two months later you get a ray of hope to have em tell you they can only do so much while literally standing infront of you in God mode and could easily replace everything that was lost because of their incompetence. Just how I'm starting to feel

Perhaps this means total assimilation if the mod. Good it is one of the best mods in the workshop. Please keep the sea turtles and even the fast ugly fish. Please combine this with a tlc for some of the original dinos. Pteranodon needs to be relevant again. I remember taming my first flyer 4 years ago in early access. The first time you take flight....... Ahh what a feeling.

don't even care. can hear roleplayers fapping in the background but i know they will be ridiculously unbalanced and get nerfed 5 times, at which point the same pve scrubs start the mutiny...as always.

number one priority should be: BALANCE THIS SHeT GAME!!!

OK i have only one question

is this rid-able because they said that it could go to wall to wall i think it would be cool for it to be big enouph at least to ride and to make it fast because it sounds like its gonna be quick on its feet

I really hope this thing is rideable.  It'd be super nice to finally have another land mount with traversal capabilities rivaling a Thyla.  The lack of a saddle icon in the dossier has me concerned, though.

Not really no not likely that it dose torpor it has different mechanics jumping and climbing instead if running and hiding also you have to steal eggs and it probably does a bleed so it's only similar to the troodon in size (maybe) and look (not really)

Size is obviously not the same as a troodon as the dossier shows a human with a club having one knocked out. The creature is larger then a raptor.

So it sounds like you have to steal eggs and hatch them like drakes and wyverns, but then you can breed them, and you might have to deal with giga or gacha levels of food consumption for babies instead of getting venom or milk. And then it sounds like they might enrage giga-style around fertilized eggs.

The latching attack sounds megalosaurus-like and could be a lot of fun if you can do it riding a tamed one.

Just my interpretation and best guess, regardless I like how they're adding something unique and different.

Can't wait to see it in action :D I bet this is going to aggro on our big dinos as well... oh my gosh!

    But.. finally a fluffy raptor!

Oh, in terms of movement mechanics this looks a lot like what I suggested way back when for the raptor's TLC. Looks promising.

So is this the mod being added to the game or is this completely different?

Either way is cool, just wondering.

    I have a few questions.
Where will they spawn regarding maps and how would it work with the nests?
Would there be a limit to the types of creatures it can attach itself to, like would it work on a giga and a bronto or would they be too big?
Would there be a way to get them off you when they do it in the wild?
Would there be a limit to what they aggro towards, like for example a raptor doesn't aggro onto a rex but it does aggro on a para so how would it work for the Deinonychus?
And a question you should expect to get a lot: when is it planned to be released?

Whether I get answers or not I love the idea of this creature and I'm very excited to see in in the game.

Last time I checked it was going to be on the island first I think
