  • Introducing Classic PvP Season 2!

    Recently we launched a new initiative, Classic PvP, which aimed to bring back the original days of PvP.  These early days were full of fun and engaging battles with limited technology and an emphasis on the primitive aspects of PvP.  Recent feedback from the community suggests that Classic PvP is a good start to reimagining early PvP but there's still more you'd like to see. When we originally launched Classic PvP, we launched it with a seasonal-based concept in mind. The idea of implementing a seasonal-based approach in an ARK game-mode was as enticing to us as it was to the community.

    On Friday 10:00 AM PDT, we'll be taking steps to get closer to the initial concept that inspired the game mode by implementing a few changes that have been requested by the community.  In addition to these changes, Friday we will be wiping Classic PvP and preparing for Season 2.

    SEASON 2 CHANGES
     Cryopods are now craftable in obelisk terminals

    While we've heard feedback that you don't want TEK items like the TEK replicator, you do want items like cryopods for quality of life improvements.

    Cave building is disabled 

    This change is one of the core requests from the community and a shift in the meta that we agreed on implementing for Classic PvP.  We are excited to see how this change impacts Season 2 and we will adjust as necessary for future seasons.

    We’re anxious to get Season 2 underway but it's important to introduce changes slowly to monitor how they impact the current meta and gameplay. We’ll be looking forward to your suggestions and feedback for future seasons!

    When you say wipe are you wiping the whole server or just cave bases?

    Resetting players back to lvl1 more info please.

    3 man tribes, classic mode, 3 times multiplayers, 3 alliances max. no mythical/made up creatures just classic dinos/animals. 3x orp 45min after logoff = overpopulated servers

    I don't understand why you need to wipe? Are you going to make this some seasonal wipe thing?

     

    One of the things I always used to brag about Wildcard was how you were so careful to not wipe servers in the beginning like when you made all the markers to outline where the snow biome was going and gave everyone a couple of weeks to move out before you wiped just the snow biome area. Now you just wipe for no good reason at all?

    That is the whole point of seasonal play. You wipe and start over for every season :)

    Previously deleting conquest now deletes classic. Is Wildcard playing with players? Every effort of our tribe disappears because of a saying from Wildcard .. season 2. I don't understand this server is different from the unofficial server. When players can lose everything just because the admin wants it so. If you reset, why not reset the whole server, but only the classic reset ???

    The rates are too low to just suffer a wipe with these short seasons. It's WAAAAY better to play unofficial then. Wasn't 6 man also supposed to be seasonal game mode you tried out? Still no wipes there? It'd be MUCH appreciated if you could give us a timeline to say that the new season would last at least 6 months or w/e so I can decide if I want to waste my time on it like I did on this season. 

    No point in joining the new season if you're not joining from the start, because they might wipe in one month after you joined. Who knows. It's pretty annoying. Also, you have beta test servers for testing out your new pvp cave meta changes. Don't push it down to the classic or any other game mode servers please. That's pretty cheap.

    Small tribes weren't announced as seasonal but an alternative to official normal PVP servers with mega tribes.

    nerf the golems pls against normal und heavy turrets. They should do 2.5 times more damage to them, and a tansmitter would be nice

    You guys announce server wipes one day before they happen? DILO is that. Would have stopped wasting time on these servers as soon as I knew had I known. Server I'm playing on abruptly goes down this morning and then I find this >.>

    The changes being introduced are SOOOOOOOO minor how does this warrant a fresh "season"? 

    If there was actually some new stuff being introduced like Aberration I would be super stoked about this.

    Not seeing any incentive to start fresh on these servers.

    I would literally be doing the same exact thing I just did to get where I was with nothing new to spice up my experience but cryopods... How is repeating endless grinding with nothing new fun?

    Been torn on whether or not to pick up WoW classic or continue ARK. Looks like you guys just simplified that dilemma for me.
