  • Happy Birthday ARK: Year Four!

It's that time of year again, ARK: Survival Evolved is celebrating it's 4th birthday today!

It's been FOUR YEARS since we first entered into Early Access on Steam. Hard to believe it's been that long, isn't it? From humble beginnings  waking up naked on the beach to saving planet Earth from giant roaming Titans, it feels like we have done it all. And we have loved each and every moment of development, meeting you at events, hosting streams, and watching your content. Thank you so much for all the support you've shown us over the last 4 years.

The past year has been a busy one for us. With the help of our vibrant community, we have been able to achieve quite a lot! Today we're taking a look back on all that's happened in the world of ARK in the last year.

Things started out strong with the release of ARK on mobile! For the first time survivors were able to hold ARK in their hands and play on-the-go. If you haven't tried ARK on mobile, you can check it out for iOS and Android.

Later in June we launched our ARKaeology event, where survivors were greeted with new stunning dinosaur skins and dig sites to unearth dinosaur bones and goodies.

With the announcement of our third expansion pack ARK: Extinction coming later in the year, June was also the first edition of the Extinction Chronicles which included the TEK Rex as well as the first piece of corrupted armor.

July, August, September brought with it a new TEK dinosaur each month, and one piece of the corrupted armor for survivors to collect.

Our modding contest was launched in September, awarding big cash prizes to support our talented ARK modders.

October was the final Extinction Chronicles that brought with it the TEK Quetzal and the final piece of corrupted armor to complete the five piece set.

In October we participated in TwitchCon and gave influences a sneak peek at the Extinction orbital supply drop game mode. It was the first time survivors were able to get their hands on anything to do with the expansion pack.

In November we participated once again in the Extra Life campaign raising money for sick kids charities. Together we raised $76,000+ over the course of our 25 hour live stream on Twitch.

On November 6th ARK's third expansion pack ARK: Extinction became available for players to experience! New titans and bizarre element-infused creatures roam the desolate planet Earth and gave players a totally new experience unlike anything before.

At the end of November, ARK became available on the Nintendo Switch!

December borught the holiday season and with it, the return of Raptor Claus who had a new guest along with him this year: Gacha Claus!

    large.Valentines_Couple_2.jpg.9bb040bb1a

Romance was in the air during February with our cheeky Valentine's Day event.

In March of this year we were finally able to get the kibble rework and Structures Plus into the hands of players under the name ARK: Homestead.

April brought with it the return of Eggcellent Adventure, an event in which players must collect eggs to decorate and craft skins and holiday themed items.

In May we announced our most recent mod contest, which just opened for entries! If you're a modder, definitely check out the mod contest and you could possibly win big cash prizes!

Last but not least, Snail Games’ open world, voxel-based sandbox survival game PixARK launched for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One & Xbox One X, and PC on Steam this May!

    Thank You!

On behalf of everyone here at Studio Wildcard, thank you for joining us on this journey and for being an awesome member of our tribe! We don't plan on slowing down any time soon, and the year ahead is shaping up to be another great year for ARK. We hope you join us. Keep on surviving!

Do you invite people to your birthday party without giving them something to food and drink? Thats exactly what you done with this post....

Please next time use the time to fix bugs instead of creating such a senseless post (For example the "buffer overflow" while traveling with max slots equipped. ). There is still many more important things to do instead of writing such posts.

Congratulations on 4 years but this doesn't tell us what your plans are for this year ? What is coming next ? Are we getting more maps on pc and console? Hopefully soon here you guys will announce something soon. E3 is coming up so make a splash to keep players interested in your game. Ark needs new content it's getting stale again.

Couldn't we have a little event for the anniversary??? Not even like 2x through the week or like 2.5x on the weekend. I think that would work

Has it ever occurred to you that not everyone in the development team fixes bugs? These announcements are put together by the community managers.

Happy anniversary, though I kinda thought this game was abandoned, seeing as I'm running into endless bugs all of which seem to have been in the game for years! And it runs like crap! I can see now all the flashy shiny things you've been up to in the last year, maybe you should hire some dedicated people for optimizations / bug fixes if the main team is going to continue working on new things, so that the game doesn't end up as actual abandonware once you move on to other projects. A little polish and whatnot could make this game a classic, rather than a fad.

Well, I guess we can effectively say....R.I.P. ARK...this just pretty confirms the devs team is reflecting and not iterating new content/features....pretty sad update imo! Where's the birthday event? I remember when they brought snow and autumn colors to the ARk....now we're lucky to see the Valentines/Easter events..which are both meh...

Wildcard will always be a bad taste in my mouth. This is why I have committed to never buying another game from this company again...they will just continually disappoint!

Happy 4th Ark. I admit I was really looking forward to the Arkiversary breeding event this year. I haven't the words to express how disappointed I am that is not happening again. I would rather you just told us you don't like breeders anymore and to go away than to play with our emotions.

Greats on the 4 years. You guys are doing a great work fixing bugs and performance (on pc at least, xbox is almost unplayable right now). I just wish to say that the comunity needs something new in game from time to time. Homestead was fun but most of it pc players had alredy played with s+ mod. Hope you guys have plans for a new season pass most of us would love to play/buy new dlcs and maps and if you have such plans would love if you share with us.

In the hope for a water oriented expansion/dlc map.

Happy birthday ARK but this is the worst birthday party ever.

Entire post is about past, not a single mention about what future is bringing. Why you didnt activate some new event with colors to celebrate birthday? by new i mean just re-activate old event like u were doing for past 3 years?

2019 is the worst ARK year. Even u listed that there used to be 3 events and new dinos in month of june and this year absolutely nothing and content is at the moment needed more then ever.

Well..........perhaps the community Crunch will drop more insight....I agree whats celebrated seems more like a wake than a birthday with much to do about the past year...including highlighting that awful Switch version thats been ignored since launch....& little hint on where they are going but its worded to suggest that yes,, there is a future

E3 is also around the corner & they did hint at a promise of things to come, perhaps they are keeping their pwder dry for that. As far as events go....maybe the concept of giving it some time is in order? This game is played by many folks, some working, some not....some students & young folks (enjoying spring summer break in my neck of the woods) I appreciate an event not dropping on a Monday assuming that remains the case....as weekends are better suited for the masses to enjoy things....& yes I fully know thats not the option for some folks. I work in the health field where no government holidays or even national holidays are a day off, call is a very real thing & 16 hour days arent abnormal.  If come next weekend theres nothing then, yeah...whats up with that. Id just rather an event run from weekend to weekend than start on on Monday. Ive put off countless celebrations aligning with Monday in real life as to allow easier event access to others

Im just saying when a guy puts on facebook "happy birthday to me" its a little out of the ordinary to beat on his door & demand cake. If hes like a really solid dude & has the stuff on hand to whip something up he may rise beyond the occasion & whip up something....but unless you are using them to light candles put the torches down (pitchforks too)

3 years and we still dont have a tek cave/ascension for SE? I mean seriously, my ark journey will never be completed until I get my tek cave.
