I spot with my little eyes something with feathers that wasn’t announced yet.

I'm so excited to see the ships and new water, my only hope is at the VERY least we can use the ships on all maps with an ocean, even if (and I think we totally should) we don't get the water physics of gen 1 on maps like Astreos (which again, we ABSOLUTELY SHOULD) so we can enjoy our voyages across the arks!!! Also, Parrots confirmed to be coming with gen 1 as well?? I seeee ittttt up there by the krakeeeennnn parrotssss??? pleassseeee???

 

Can't wait for you guys to Release the Kraken ! 😆

So apparently the next up on the TLC rounds is the Theri instead? Hoping it's actually good. There's still widespread misinformation about it being good at gathering things, when in reality its outdone by basically any specialized dino, even with all levels dumped into power/delicate harvesting. I have never, ever, ever seen the numbers on resources people claim it can put out, ever, and I've been playing on 1x up to even 10x rates over the years. Disregarding the fact that weight reductions on other creatures effectively made Theris obsolete.

Seems to be part of a larger misunderstanding over harvesting/harvesting damage works, where most people don't know that almost all resources in the game basically have a hardcapped amount per node, and continue wasting points into melee damage after reaching the threshold.

I wonder if the older watercraft will someday get an update too or if rafts will still remain the most popular due to being cheap to make and replace if sunk. Maybe an update like rafts getting a speed bonus while their sails are up, a speed increase forwards but slower turning. So instead of most players keeping their sails hidden just for aesthetics; having a sails-up bonus would let you decide whether to sail quickly forwards or turn quickly around if you're being chased and you'd be able to navigate larger maps a bit faster (I think rafts sail at about player sprinting speed).

What if there was a benefit to placing flags onto your ship? Like these wooden vessels or the metal motorboat taking less damage from players or creatures (mostly Leeds) that attack them. Then you'd see lots of creative designs being made with paint or ships with multiple flags on the front and back and players would go for the flag first if they can reach it. Imagine if having a flag on your raft reduced wild creature damage (Leeds) to 50% or 25% so you could take more than one hit from an alpha Leeds or more safely navigate deeper waters between islands on maps they're native to.

Unless these ships are stone damage tier rather than wooden, I wonder how much health they'll have for their size. Wooden rafts have 20k and an alpha Leed can destroy them in one bite so these will maybe have 150k? If you can't customise to protect the helm from sniping then these new ships will be easy to camp with a rifle instead of thinking about any battles with cannons. The other expensive vehicle, the BattleRig, taking damage like it's made of thatch from someone hitting it with bare fists means it's a pretty rare sight so I hope this ship is wood tier or higher or it'll be about as common as seeing a Zeppelin off the ground.

I didn't comment on it because I wasn't able to articulate any specific details that made me feel that way, and I didn't want to make the accusation without any way to make a convincing point.

Would you mind sharing your wisdom so I can learn what to look for?

EDIT: Alright, I guess I better say it here. I don't actually think that image is AI. I was trying to approach the conversation with CryptidBarArts in a way that would encourage discussion rather than defensiveness. By coming from a stance of "help me understand" rather than "no, you're wrong", I open the door for civil discussion rather than sounding accusatory.

It looks pretty much like all their other creatures reveals going back to ASE to me, so I'm not sure how either of you are getting AI vibes from it.

I think it would be cool if the gigantopithecus can be your pirate crews, so if you want to be a solo pirate, you can just tame so many gigantopithecus, it would be cheaper and bring us to another creature. I just hope it would have a better path finding so it can run up and down the stairs to get cannon balls or repair holes in the ship.

I wasn't getting AI vibes from it, It looks eerily similarly to other art released to me.

unless there is a way to preventing the "blob of tames" bodyblocking the ship (a kin to Gacha gender debuff)

i don't see how viable ships is gonna be viable in ARK (known for the only way to win a bossfight is body blocking with an army of tames)
