  • Community Crunch 499: Threading the Needle: The Araneo Zips Back In!

    image.png

You voted, you donated, and now it begins. Thanks to the incredible support shown during our Extra Life charity event, the first Extra Life TLC creature is almost ready to descend from its shadowy lair.

The Araneo is evolving into something far more dangerous. No longer content to skitter at ground level, these overgrown spiders have begun claiming the high ground, using web-lines to traverse elevated terrain and drop down on unsuspecting prey with unnerving precision.

We can’t wait to share more on what’s in store—but for now, just know that your impact is crawling its way into the ARK.

    Species: Araneomorphus amalgotantibus

    Time: Seemingly Recent

    Diet: Carnivore

    Temperament: Opportunistic, Aggressive

    image.png

Lately I’ve noticed a kind of breakthrough evolution in the local population of Araneomorphus. Broodmother's ‘children’ have suddenly exploded in number, and they've also begun using their amazing amalgam of arachnidial abilities in alarming new ways.

These overgrown spiders have begun traversing high areas with their web-lines, and rappelling down them to ambush prey. They also shoot their webbing with a newly ruthless precision--a disorienting innovation that restricts their prey's ability to move, attack, and protect itself. Struck enough times, an entangled victim is as good as helpless.

    image.png

Though the Araneo was once considered too small to be a serviceable mount, newer compact saddle designs have turned around opinion. Its narcotic venom turns out to be useful for tranquilizing potential tames. One popular tactic is to drop from above and wrap up a target creature in webbing before subduing them with a venomous bite.

Even if a taming attempt fails, your spider-mount can harvest the hardened silk from a downed target for a variety of uses. Araneo silk is an excellent insulator in warm-weather clothing, for example.

Im not so sure that it's a good idea to change the lore with the dossiers, especially that I don't recall them ever doing that for the previous TLC dinos. And the way they said that the "Breakthrough evolution in the local population of Araneomorphus" makes it sound like their might still be the original none TLC versions of the Araneo on the maps along side the new ones (even though im pretty sure thats not gonna be the case). Also it might be confusing if they try to do the same thing with the other four TLC winners. 🤨 🔀 🕷️ 📖 😬

I have a feeling you're gonna copy and paste some code from the bloodstalker into the Araneo.

There was people that was complaining about the cave is going to be to hard so they might leave the old ones in cave and the new ones out in the world

The actually did change the dossiers with the TLCs, you can look up the videos of them from before the TLCs to see that. With the time frame being marked as seemingly recent, pretty much tells us that these aren't the quite the same araneos we've come to know.

Ya, but that's weird why does the evolved one that live on a different planet look more like a spider then then the ones in ASA you would think ASA has more like spider thing and on ark 2 they go all out on the more monster like evolution.

I mean it look like ark 2 Spider even has paws which most games doesn't get right so why is it evolving back into a normal looking Spider

I'm not saying ASA needs ark 2 Spider now I just think a least change the mouth because if they put that much work in to it for months then I have a bad filling for the people that wanted the therizinosaurus tlc

I think it comes down to the time they have had to evolve inbetween Ark and Ark 2, it’s more natural but yeah fair point

But I like the ability, it kind of reminds me of oger face spider which is really cool spider.

Make me wonder if there's going to be more ability that they aren't telling us like a zip line like web where you can go above the creatures you want to tame.

J'aime bien ce nouveau design, mais il y a moins de différences que je ne l'aurais cru, à voir les capacités, j'ai hâte de voir les prochains, surtout le Gigano et le Quetzal !

Honestly don't see the point in this dino; maybe an early tame to help knock out others, but most dinos in this game need a TLC – EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM DO – yet WC are not putting the effort in to do this and are charging the community money to even go over the 5 dinos that were picked... Also, it's taking them over a year just to do this TLC for a single dino???? What is going on at WC? Why are they being so incredibly lazy with this stuff???

Me parece bien la nueva mecánica que tiene el araneo, pero ahora será más terrorífico ir a las cuevas
