Community Crunch 483: Introducting Ossidon!

As long as giga and quetzal get a TLC, I’m happy.

I'm really ecxited to see both creatures roadming in Lost Colony and Genesis 1 💪

Oh interesting, the Tako Sushi was not my favorite creature in the vote, but it was also NOT my least favorite one... which is refreshing compared to some previous winners. Congratulations to the Octopus !

This was a vote that really sent the message that people want more craftables in the game (several submissions had a version of that, the Octopus had the potions and their volatile variants, we'll see if they make it into the game). Quick question, WildCard : instead of giving us a seemingly endless stream of cosmetics noone has asked for, have you considered giving us more craftables that we can, you know, play with ? There are consistently suggestions made in the creature submissions that are AT LEAST as much about adding gameplay content as they are about cool looking creatures.
This past vote, for instance, was heavy in underwater submissions (on a map that could easily have favored another type of biome), had a lot of craftables, a lot of biome variants, and last but not least, a lot of creatures with minions. I don't know, I think it's interesting. It's just interesting. That feels interesting to me. I would write down how interesting it is...

Now I just have to hope that the tentacles will be animated decently, because that's not the sort of appendages and movements ARK has a great history with (it just takes looking at snakes in this game to see how rigid things can often look...).

PS : the Crinoid might have felt a bit redundant with the Bloodthirsty Bloodstalker, but I hope to see it again another time.

EDIT : the Theriz is one of the most used creatures in the game, I can't believe people lack imagination so much that they want a TLC of an already overused tame. And then they'll complain it's less useful...

It wasn't even in the top 10 yesterday and its suddenly surpassed the Giga as number 1?

 

Just dont sit well with me, Paleo Octopus is great news though, I had a gut feeling it was gonna win and happy to see it making it in, the Ossidon also sounds really cool, I love this thing from a conceptual standpoint and I cant wait to try it out

It got boosted from Syntacs stream, it rubs me the wrong way too since it wasn't even in top 10 yesterday

There is no way people want the murder turkey to get a rework THIS badly, it's already a damn good tame

 

compared to something like the Quetzal and the Araneo who are in dire needs of an upgrade

Awwwwwww maaaaannnnnnm! So freaking close!!!! I wanted the Irritator soooooooooo bad! It was such a great design!!!!! 

I'm so glad the octopus won, this vote had a lot of new creatures that I wouldn't have minded winning, but the octopus and crinoid were the ones that I wanted to see win the most. now we just have to hope that one, they keep it a land creature with a aquatic option( is that how I should say that) and two, they actually animated it well, maybe get some ideas from monster hunter's Nu Udra for a good octopus rig wildcard.

I double checked GP's video yesterday

 

It was in 20th place then and shot up to 1st today, Syntac boosted it to 1st 

Congratulations to Paleoctopus for winning! I look forward to seeing it in the simulation next year.

Gave me big Nu Udra vibes with the coating mechanic, my favorite Monster in Wilds and MH in general so I cant wait to see that implemented (I feel confident it'll be implemented with the multi biome mechanic being perfect with it)

I really want it to get a model update u hate its big goofy face and want more feathers and its used so much! It's doesn't need abilities it needs model update thats all! I love the theri and it needs a update everyone uses it 

I hate democracy. The top 3 creatures in the extra life TLC have no business being there. I'm also not thrilled at the land octopus that makes potions but at least I can understand people wanting something different.

I do wish Wildcard would actually enforce the needs to be a prehistoric creature rule harder tho. People just picking modern animals then looking for an extinct similar genus to slap the name on the dossier but really it's just a modern animal. There were several cool exotic prehistoric species this time and we got a land octopus. 

Therizinosaurus wasnt even on the list in the last community crunch! Real "underdog takes the lead" moment right there. Im glad the Quetz is still in the top 4, at least, but Im not understanding why Megalosaurus is still on the list. It's the star of the Rockwell fight and is nasty in PvP. Doesnt look half bad, either. There are definitely others who need a TLC far more desperately

I've been on team Araneo since day one and I maintain that it's the kind of creature that deserves to make it to the final happy few. None of the tames we see commonly in videos and on servers should be at the top of that list, if it were up to me. Only tames noone uses, because CLEARLY they need a makeover the most.
But nooo, Giga and Theriz. This is why we can't have nice things.

Like, I dislike the Galli as much as the next survivor, but that's precisely why it needs to be higher too. Basically, pick the least popular creatures in ARK, and TLC those.

Except the Ichthyornis, naturally, which just deserves to DIE DIE DIE.

Technically it's "extinct" not "prehistoric".
At least we don't have a single octopus in the game already. Unlike those damn Theropods that seemed to almost always get all the votes previously, there was an actual diversity of creatures this time around. And I say this as someone who submitted two creatures, one of them being a Theropod (and who might be guilty of the phenomenon you describe XD but I don't think it's a bad thing, lots of creatures in ARK are bastardized that way, it's called fiction).

At some point we have to recognize that if we need rules to be super restrictive for certain creatures to get a chance to be voted on... it's that people don't want these creatures unless forced to. If you have to say "ok, but no creature that could remotely be associated to a modern animal, and no Theropod, and we've had enough carnivores, and...", it's not so much of a COMMUNITY vote, is it ?

And the last 3 are getting TLC's so it makes sense for Acro to be next

I know you’re against theropods lately, but an octopus?

Cause in real life they can climb on surfaces, fit through tight spaces, can camouflage really well.

Plus, based on the submission that was made, ARKs Palaeoctopus might create potions that could be great utility in the biomes of Gen 1 (EX: a potion that could reduce oxygen consumption while in water or give you resistance to fire).

And you think no one going to use an octopus? 🐙

its 4 now because they past the fourth milestone and yes i assume its next but next week is the sixth week after Valguero they should have announced it tonight unless its just getting released and announced.

Ossidon's dossier thingy looks REALLY COOL. Can't wait for Lost Colony!!!

Why on earth did Syntac vote for a therizino tlc..?I guess therizino is just THAT ugly to him XD

 

Well that's his opinion, even tho I personally wouldn't vote for it, I still wanna see what WC will do to it...

Imagine it could stab dinosaurs and perhaps carry them around while being impaled on it's huge claws.. hah!
