Get ready! On Wednesday, April 16th, ClubARK will be decorated with an Easter theme, and we have hidden 20 golden eggs! Each egg is marked with a number from 1 to 20 — and it's your job to find them all.

    image.png

    • Hunt down all 20 golden eggs hidden throughout ClubARK.
    • For each egg, take a screenshot of your character standing next to it, clearly showing the egg number.
      • We recommend using Photo Mode for some of the trickier ones!
    • Once you’ve found them all, submit your 20 screenshots as proof in a private thread in the dedicated channels on the Official ARK Discord.

    image.png

The very first Survivors to successfully find and submit proof of all 20 eggs will receive a copy of ARK: The Animated Series Cosmetic Pack featuring over 75 exclusive skins, including, Mammoth, Tusoteuthis, Spinosaurus, Equus, along with Jane, Chava, Rebel Mei Yin, and New-Armor Mei Yin. Valued at $14.99 and a copy of Bob's Tall Tales!

    Happy Scavenger Hunt!

A patch that went out today included a fix for Cryo Fridges not updating their power state until opened. This should have been communicated in advance so it could have been prepared for and it was an error on our part that we hadn’t. Unfortunately, the outcome is that some cryopods have expired in cryofridges after their states were correctly updated with the recent patch. Our team took temporary measures to disable transfers while we reviewed the data to determine whether a rollback would be a viable option.

One key aspect that affects the decision of whether to rollback or not relates to transfers, and, given the timing with Astraeos, transfers are at an all time high. After reviewing our data to assess how much would be lost in uploads (in short: a lot), we made the difficult call not to rollback the saves as it would result in greater loss for a larger group of players. This preserves players’ uploaded items, creatures, and in many cases, their characters.

Honestly, this was a very difficult decision, rollbacks are never straightforward and they always come with some risk, however in this case the risk is guaranteed (due to the immense volume of transfers) and would cause more loss.

This wasn’t how we wanted the fix to land, and we really feel for anyone who lost dinos because of it so we’re going to make some imminent changes to our evolution event and easter rate plans to help compensate for the loss.

To support affected players, we’ll be running 3x rates this weekend including breeding, and also plan to continue 3x rates including breeding every weekend (Friday 1 PM PST to Monday 1 PM PST) during Eggcellent Adventures, with the planned regular event 2x rates including breeding throughout the weekdays while the event is active.

Thank you for your patience and we sincerely apologize to those impacted.

Whomever crafted that incredible story about why a rollback isn't happening, they deserve a raise.  Best piece of word-smithing I've ever seen from WildCard in ten years.

I'm not sure I understand what exactly happened with the cryo fridges, but I think that's absolutely hilarious. What a monumental waste of some people's time that could be. Like that could be weeks, months of work. And they're like here's a 3X rate for a few days. Like what a joke. I would say, make a whole bunch of new servers, crank it up to like 50X rates for a month in a PvP. Give people 48 hours to transfer dinosaurs off. And then shut those servers down. Like something substantial might actually keep some of your players around. I came back for extinction, stuck around for a month or two, and I left for Monster Hunter Wilds. Like is their button broken, do they think it's going to affect their their bottom line dollar wise? Like what is the reason that they keep nickel and diming all the players. I've been a solo player on my own server from Nitrado for years. Simply because I'm not going to deal with wild cards little scraps here and there, just to drop the ball and reset it, and give us a bunch of little scraps here and there to make up for it.

If we win the prize, could we change the price of bob's tall tales to the 2 fantastic tames if possible😅?

Wildcard:. we !_#&*$ up, and we don't want to put any effort into undoing what we did, so "Too bad so sad", also don't forget to give us money, here is an event that we planned on doing anyways as compensation that will in no way come close to fixing the losses we caused by not QC'ing our code before deploying it.

That about sums it up right?

Can someone clarify please, I thought the issue was not that the power state of the fridge was this or that, but that a) even a fully charged cryopod loses all of its 30d shelf life *immediately* when viewed in an unpowered fridge and b) wind turbines decayed in under half the pitched time?

I wouldn’t call it a joke. Wildcard messed up, have been refreshingly honest about it and were stuck between a rock and a hard place in regard to recompense for those affected… whatever they did, rollback or no rollback people would be adversely affected… stats showed more would be lost by those who were transferring than those who lost cryos opening fridges… sad but it is what it is. Hopefully the community will step up and support those who lost their stuff, I know I will.

Because I knew about this issue, I had a cryofridge with retired tames that I access first to make sure the dinos are not dead inside it… most players I know do the same. Ark Discord, general chat is very good for finding out what is going on… worth all players time to check in every now and then…

at the end of the day, it is a time of change for Wildcard… they were and still are a small team who found unprecedented success with a magnificent game and I’m sticking with them as in the end, Ark Survival Ascended and Evolved has given me hundreds of hours of gaming, not always fun, sometimes challenging but undeniably the best of its genre in my opinion. I hope my support along with other dedicated Arkers will help Wildcard emerge out the other side.

Like many others, I myself have been a long time critic of WC’s ummm less than outstanding communication and practices with their player base, BUT after seeing a pretty substantial shift from almost ten years of absolutely dismal dialogue and (at times) even worse decision making it is refreshing to see them at least making an effort.  Now am I saying this makes up for all the situations and scenarios that the player base has endured over the last decade?  Absolutely not!  The fact is we are all human, we all screw up sometimes and the only thing that I believe the majority of players want to see is…….OWN IT!  So let’s take a second, land the quetzal before we go base jumping our gigas off the volcano and hook our spyglasses on some things that stick out to me in the live ops update, and I am by no means giving WC a complete absorbing of sins.  There are plenty of things that can be highly critiqued, but in this instance I want to recognize the improvement.

#1-  THEY ADMITTED THAT THEY SCREWED THE POOCH!!!!  Please someone tell me how many times they have ACTUALLY done that in the last 10 years.  By my recollection maybe a handful of times!  They have owned and came out in front of more of their screw ups since the launch of ASA THAT THEY EVER DID THROUGH 8 YEARS OF ASE!  Where I come from we call that improvement!  Obviously this is not a blind defense of WC, there is always room for improvement and to be better.  Not just for WC, BUT FOR ALL OF US TOO!   I am a firm believer that a vast majority of us just want them to be open, honest and admit when they fall short as every other human that inhabits this world should do.

#2-  THEY ACTUALLY WEIGHED THE CONSEQUENCES OF BOTH OUTCOMES INSTEAD OF READY, FIRE, AIM!!!  They took a few minutes to weigh the most likely possibilities of doing a rollback and not doing a rollback.  Yes it sucks for all of us affected.  Yes it sucks because you do feel like you wasted time, and we all know how much time you can soak up into this game and not even bat an eye at it.  I think the biggest thing we ALL should take away from this is, they tried to make the best decisions with the least amount of adverse consequences.  We have all been in “damned if you do and damned if you don’t” situations in life, and there are NO easy solutions or answers.  You just hope to mitigate the fall out.  I think a vast majority of us can relate to that.  In a game that is as indepth and expansive as this one is, there is no way WC would be able to go through every single player and make them whole in this situation, the man hours involved to do that alone are astronomical.  So in the fact that they came out and laid out the situation they were in honestly (yes that felt fairly genuine to me), speaks for itself.  There appeared to be no right answers, and regardless whatever decisions they made, SOMEONE and SOMEWHERE was going to take the hit.  I agree with them on this!  If it were me, I’d rather loose a cryofridge of tames than an entire base of resources, structures and creatures, WHICH HAS HAPPENED!

#3-  THEY ARE GIVING US ALMOST 2 WEEKS OF BONUS RATES WITH 3X ON THE WEEKENDS IN COMPENSATION!!!!!   As I mentioned above, WC would not be able to go through player by player or tribe by tribe for what is it 8? different server regions, 2 game modes and what 15k? servers to make every player effected by this to feel some what whole.  They’re not google that has 20k people on the payroll (exaggerated, I don’t actually know how many people work for google, but my point I pretty clear).  Frankly, if someone is so focused on what they lost in comparison to the alternative, that says something.  I’m not trying to make the case that loosing something is insignificant, because it isn’t.  I’m sure for some players the losses are much more impactful than others.  Which for those I have sincere empathy.  I just think that in this scenario, the broader picture needs to be in focus instead of the small snapshot of a player’s own individual circumstances, again not to downplay those circumstances.  Without blowing the man hour counter into the stratosphere, there’s limited compensation that WC can give.  I mean what do you want?  An entire boss Rex team with 70k health and 1200 melee?  A level 400 mate pair of Carchas or Gigas with 900 melee for every player effected? What would it take for WC to offer to make players effected to be satisfied?  Sure I would love to see a 4x on weekends and 3x on weekdays during the event, which probably could be accomplished, but I am also not going to look a gift horse in the mouth and be appreciative for what we have been given.  At least they’re making an effort and that should not be lost on any of us.

This is already way to long so I’ll end with this reiterating of what I had previously wrote.  I am by no means absolving the previous and current sins of WC and SG.  There is plenty to answer for on their part, but give acknowledgement to the improvements that are made when they are made.  If we constantly criticize and pick apart the improvements that they have tried to reach then there is no incentive to get better or try harder.  That’s just basic, factual human nature.  So thank you WC for being genuine with us, and trying to lessen the blow back from an impossible decision!

Cryofridge thing is such a loss-loss situation.

It's actually not a bug,  but a Bug fix that made this situation, so kind of make this whole thing feel even worse xD

I can't even truly blame Wild Card coz they simply fixed a bug.

The Cryofridge's state should have always updated real time,  it was not doing it since ASE. many people reported this bug and wanted this bug to be fixed. so they finally fixed it.

The problem is... the Cryofridge state end up "catching up" instantly when patch went live.

which is again, correct and not a bug. it should catch up and then from now on, work correctly. that's how it should go.

but this catch up, had the unexpected problem that if someone had their base unpowered when the catch up happen, the game, for one final time, catch up using the current state and kill the dino.

This has been how it work since ASE,

if you had your base powered, for a full year xD but just powered it 1 minute ago, then  open a cryofridge that you didn't open for 1 month, then instantly all the dino in it Die.  coz it catch up the state at that moment.

this problem is now fixed, forever, after people wanted it to be fixed for years.

but before leaving us forever, it did one final F U on his way out to anyone who had their base unpowered and deleted their dino.

such an unfortunate situation.... I lost 1 base of dino, event reaper and Anky with traits.

fortunately 3 other base were fine... My Main biggest base had 9 Day on power, so kinda lucky. refilled the element now lol

Rollback will not work, coz then you don't only loss your dino if u had them unpowered,

but also your whole character and all items together if you transferred to new map.

This is complete BS, I lost fridges than where accessed just days beforehand, and their timers had definitely not hit 30 days because I'd only placed it in that spot 3 days ago.

And hundreds of others have reported that they lost dinos that where stored in ANY fridge that was powered down during the update, regardless of when they where last powered/accessed.

Cost me a fridge full of zombie wyverns and multiple 3x3x3 mineral traited ankylo, a stack of argies and a pair of high stat bugs, and a few other odds and sods (it was my mining camp base), the wind turbine that powered them was repaired j3 days beforehand, I assumed it had been damaged due to wild dinos or my own tools, I was completely unaware of the turbine update, because I, much like most of the community don't regularly access the toxic cesspit that is the Ark discord, so I just repaired it and left it as it was, had I have been made aware of the update I would have installed a generator instead.

And while these features where always meant to be the case, they should have reset all timers to 30 days and then issued on-menu, in game, discord, social media, and forum banner warnings for both updates so people could prepare, not just only on discord, and after the fact, again only a small fraction of the community is on discord, and the fact is not all people are hyper active on the game, and can only get online on during weekends or holiday breaks, they told us only on discord, nowhere else that the timer was now X days, and then f---d up and set the timer to far less than that, and this screw up is what caused our fridges to be offline in the first place.
(which also begs the question; Who is QCíng the code before deployment?)

Back when it used to work this way on ASE, we had the option to have a backup generator kick in when the turbine died off, this feature has been deliberately left out by wildcard in the update leaving everyone high and dry with no alternative, if they really wanted it like the old system, they would have added that feature back in, I feel that this update is/was more a punishment for those who aren't no-lifers and can sometimes go inactive from time to time.

Honestly, the incompetence at WC is incredible. I get that turbines weren't meant to be permanent fixes for power but jesus christ don't you guys test anything before you implement it?

Extra rates are nice but losing literally every water tame I owned is a real p**s take.

Honestly couldn't have said it better myself. WC just showing their indifference at this point.

I very much do get it. And one of the worst things from WC/SG since the beginning of SG's involvement has been a lack of communication and a complete disregard for the players.

However, from my personal perspective, I don't really see a reason to get much upset about the loss. A little upset, but not much. Because, really, this loss is just practice for when WC/SG makes an announcement on the Ark Discord; and nowhere else; that they are randomly shutting down all of ASA's multiplayer servers with only a few days to move your stuff to single player or it will all be lost; unless you are lucky enough to get a good time-stamp save-file of your server from them afterwards that can be ported to single player.

The implementation on the player version of the game is their testing. They don't have enough money to hire in-company quality testers, so the players are their beta-testers.

I've always wondered why they can't just make a system that keeps track of everyone's stuff so that if their stuff goes POOF from some glitch or mistake they can just hit a button and spawn it all back in for them.

I mean, there are plenty of other games that are able to do this. I know it would be a big thing to do, but surely they could implement such a thing if they cared enough.

They have the ability to see how much would be lost if they rolled back or not. If nothing else, they could determine which players had lost something and hope that those players would respect the honor system and tell the devs exactly what they lost so it could be spawned back in.

If absolutely nothing else, the devs could come down from their workstations into the affected servers and hand out free stuff as a way of saying; "Sorry."

Giving extra rates is like saying; "Oh, I'm sorry that your house got destroyed by the hurricane I caused. Here, I'll give you a crate of hotdogs so you won't starve. But, to obtain the hotdogs, you will need to climb that mountain over there and haul it back down by yourself. Hope this makes up for it. SeeYa."

In my eyes, choosing not to rollback is less a matter of "More would be lost and more players would be affected so we had to go with the least loosing option." and more of "More players would be affected which means that a larger amount of the community would be mad and hate us so we're going with the option that will cause the least amount of backlash."

If they truly cared about the players, they would come in and respawn all the stuff that was lost due to their mistake. But, they have never ever done this to my knowledge for any reason. Not even to regain lost player characters during transfers. I mean, how hard would it be to admin command so that a player's levels were placed back into a new character after being lost and so that all their stuff was reset to the new player character?

I am by no means absolving the previous and current sins of WC and SG.  There is plenty to answer for on their part, but give acknowledgement to the improvements that are made when they are made.  If we constantly criticize and pick apart the improvements that they have tried to reach then there is no incentive to get better or try harder.  That’s just basic, factual human nature.  So thank you WC for being genuine with us, and trying to lessen the blow back from an impossible decision!

The problem with this though, is that I have seen no forward trend of improvement. Yes, it is very nice to see that they actually took the time to apologize this time. However; in the past few years it seems to always be a long period of disregard for the players making us all hate them, then suddenly they actually appear to show some concern for the players and apologize or communicate better, then nothing really changes and its back to another long period of disregard. There is no overall improvement. Just the same muck.

If they really cared about the players who were affected, and truly wanted to say sorry, then they should respawn all the lost stuff for the players who lost stuff. That would show some actual forward improvement to how they handle things like this.
