  • Community Crunch 239: TLC 3 Update, EVO Event, and More!

In this edition of the Community Crunch, we’ll be giving you more details on the upcoming TLC 3 patch and taking a look at some amazing community art.

    TLC 3 Update

Excitement is ramping up and we're anxious to share more details on the creature improvements we've been working on.  In addition to the creature upgrades we'll been sharing, there's more polish, balance, and quality of life updates in store for the upcoming TLC patch.

    Woolly Mammoth

    Mammoth_TLC_Promo_HighRes.png
Recently we gave you a peek at the visual upgrades of the Woolly Mammoth but it’s abilities have also seen an upgrade. The Mammoth comes marching in with new attacks and a buff that’s enabled by war drums.  We have a feeling you will like the sound of that!

    New Abilities
    War Drum Saddle and Buff

    • 1 additional passenger seat on a saddle that comes equipped with a war drum that must be played to maintain an AoE buff that improves stamina regen and makes them immune to fear.

    New Attacks
    Tusk Sweep

    • Sweeps tusks left or right to gather and harvest thatch

    Trunk Trumpet

    • Emits a trunk roar that does an AOE debuff to all enemies within range

    Foot Stomp

    • Mammoth rears up and then puts all of its weight into a forward “slam” with its front legs to directionally knock back enemies and gather wood

    Trunk Grab

    • Similar to the Karkinos’s grab, it is able to grab, hold, and release smaller targets

    Stegosaurus

    StegoTLC_Promo.png

Primarily known as a harvester, the Stegosaurus will be seeing visual upgrades and an expanded toolset that makes it hard to resist.

    New Abilities

    Backplate Modes

    • Backplate passive buff and can switch between three modes. Different modes will be indicated visually
      • Hardened Plated: Applies a damage reduction buff and prevents riders from being dismounted by enemies; Wood harvesting benefit
      • Heavy Plate Mode: Applies a slow when attacking with the basic tail whip; Thatch harvesting benefit
      • Sharpened Plate Mode: Applies an armor penetration effect when attacking with the tail whip. Also useful for harvesting berries

    New Attacks

    • Impaling Tail Whip
      • Able to impale and immobilize players and smaller creatures

    EVO Event

If the next creature getting TLC isn't the Carno I'm having a hard time believing you looked at the community feedback for this TLC update 😐

I cant see any usability with mammoth AoE buff. I hoped that it will boost damage or HP regen.

Will the Mammoth still be able to gather berries? I used it as my main berry gatherer on Genesis because its fairly smallish and fast and gathers more than what I need without fooling with another bigger/slower/less weight cap tame.

Whoever designed the X variants, the Tropeo and now the Stego TLC (you can't convince me one same person isn't behind these) really deserves a raise. Those look amazing, with a great use of stripes/patterns (and the Stego's are even functional !), better volumes, and incredible details.

Also gotta love the S&M saddle for the Stego.

The Yuty already exists for damage buffs (plus imprint bonus, mate boost, etc). We really don't need more damage in the game. Daeodon and Snow Owl exist for healing buffs. The stamina regen is kind of meh, but fear immunity is pretty big when you're running at an enemy with a yuty.

so as i expected. This buff and TLC is made for PVP.

The meta is already dominated by gigas. We do not need more ways to buff them. Damage is fine, but another AOE damage buff just makes gigas even more oppressive.

I wonder what kind of debuff the mammoth will give and what tier of mobs it will affect.

I disagree about the stego. I play pve exclusively. I think this TLC will just make the stego the center piece to Rockwell.

This update is gonna be awesome. It would be awesome if dire wolves were bigger and stronger. Like they’re pretty same and don’t do much but if they were bigger you could add some sort of ability to smell or see tracks of creatures for a certain amount of time🤷‍♀️😁 just an idea

Tame a Procoptodon. Smaller, Faster, and Better Weight. Trust me here.

    Question for Clarity:
Wild Stegos and Wild Mammoths are going to get the ability to dismount riders in TLC3?
Or is the mechanic just for tamed versions?

    I ask because..
Being dismounted by a wild is one of the most debilitating-to-my-enjoyment mechanics of Ark.

I am passionately against that mechanic in PvE, and I want nothing to do with it. I change how I play (with great upset) just to avoid that specific mechanic.

I avoid building in places I want to build in, just to avoid wilds with that mechanic.
I disable all spawns on my singleplayer, just to avoid that mechanic.
I disabled all wilds with that mechanic on my Unofficial that I used to have.

I live around wild mammoth spawns on Official PvE currently, and I do not like moving my whole base. I hope this isnt what it seems. I really hope it isnt.

I do not like that mechanic, I do not like Riders dismounted by wilds on PvE.

Please don't forget the Megaloceros or even the terror bird. They need it so bad.

What happened to that’s carno tlc? That little bit of bleed damage it was given does not help it be relevant

    Maybe you re right.
It would depend on how dismounting prevent will work with tentacle electroshocking. Enemy dismount prevention maybe just work against purlovia, raptor or thyla.
If it will prevent from tentacles electro drop, it will be OP for Rockwell.. but notice - Master Controller too.

AAND i hope it will affect TEK STEGO too

He not by me, i mostly play extinction and they are everywhere. I always tame a high level Male early game but as soon as I hit my first enforcer, it kinda gets unused except thatch, and it mostly just takes Cryo space.
