  • Community Crunch 211: Winter Wonderland 4

    Winter Wonderland will be returning for the fourth time on Tuesday with all new presents for ARK survivors.  The winter-themed holiday event begins tomorrow at 10am PST for PC, XBOX, and PS4 and will last until Tuesday, January 7th.  All maps will receive Winter Wonderland and all its content including RaptorClaus and GachaClaus, however only The Island will have a visual winter theme.

    One of our most notable helpers, RaptorClaus, will be back to drop off holiday gifts filled with loot, event items, mistletoe, and lumps of coal for all those naughty survivors.  You'll be able to catch RaptorClaus flying across the skies at midnight (game time) on all maps.

    GachaClaus is also returning to help RaptorClaus spread the holiday cheer!  GachaClaus will be roaming all maps in holiday garb and sporting holiday-themed colors. He will be accepting your coal and in exchange will gift you holiday themed items, or you can trade in your mistletoe and coal for a chance at event items. weapons, armor and a brand new event item, Chibis!

    While Winter Wonderland is active, you'll have a chance to collect over 50 ARK chibi pets.  ARK chibi pets are cute miniaturized versions of the creatures you have become familiar with in your travels across the ARK universe.  Chibi's pets can be leveled up by killing specific alpha creatures and in return, you'll be granted additional player levels .  Some chibi pets may be harder to find so you'll have to visit GachaClaus and RaptorClaus to find all the chibi pets!  Can you collect them all? 

    Winter Wonderland Event Notes 

    Initiation of Winter Wonderland:
    Can be manually activated with: -ActiveEvent=WinterWonderland launch parameter
    Increased rates to 2X Breeding (mating interval, egg hatch speed, and maturation)
    Increased rates to 2X Player XP
    Increased rates to 2X Harvesting
    Increased rated to 2X Taming
    Added Event-themed wild dino spawns
    The Island has been given a makeover with a winter landscape and foliage.
    Coal and Mistletoe can be obtained from Raptor Claus gift drops
    Raptor Claus:
        Will spawn at midnight and drop gifts across the island.
        Gifts some special items like holiday structures, some skins, color candies, and chibis.
    Gacha Claus:
        Spawns on all maps
        Placing coal/mistletoe in the inventory of a wild Gacha Claus will cause it to grow crystals.
        The crystals have higher quality loot and a chance for chibis

    Bronto Ugly Sweater
    Carno Ugly Sweater
    Chibi Ugly Sweater
    Red-Ball winter hat
    Gray-ball Winter Hat
    Purple Ball Winter Hat
    Reindeer Antlers Hat
    Nutcracker Slingshot

    2 sets of Event-themed underwear (tops and bottoms)
    Chibi pets
Added new emotes:
    Happy Clap Emote
    Caroling Emote
    Nutcracker Dance Emote

    Taming and Breeding rates aside, as those seem to be the main point on conversation in the 3 pages of comments I just read through.... I must say I am ready to start hunting out these new chibis. They are new and there is so much to learn about them since not much was said.

    Are they pets that follow you around? Something you keep in your inventory? Shoulder pets? Something you can place? Are they breedable? Which creatures will we find? Are they too going to be seasonally colored? 

    So much to learn and figure out with these new pets. I can't wait to hunt a few of them down!

    And I must say It is nice to see the ugly sweater additions. They still aren't the full santa, elf, snowman, or pluffy snowsuit skins I have been hoping to see, but they are something more than the hat skins we have been given year after year. It just one more clothing item, but it something different and we will not at least be able to wear two holiday themed suit pieces.

    really looking forward to finding out the chibis, Tho if i could be cheeky, i would like the dermis to have a beard, or a way to put it on as a skin. I've already created Santa's cabin, with his reindeer's, just waiting for the Christmas tree etc. But my Santa, doesn't look right with out a beard.

    Awesome love the event. Did you fix the Rexes on the Island yet. They can't damage anything except a Mammoth.

    Is this all applied to SmallTribes? How is it done if so? We're already 3x would it be 6x or just 2x more added for 5x stuff etc?

    What would you rather?

    A broken DLC that would take a month to fix

    OR

    A DLC that launched an extra month late, but provided a great experience with little-to-no-bugs, because the devs actually tried to bring us a good DLC?

    And I don't think it'll provide Genesis info, but it'll give us a chance to see the creatures up close, small or not.

    Guy,.  They do this EVERY update, dlc and tlc. The fact is people are upset because once again WC has thrown a date out there only to change it. It will probably be postponed again and when it does drop there will still be bugs. Then a week or a month after they do release it they will come back and Nerf every creature in the dlc. People who are upset really shouldn't be. Not because "they" are making it better but because WC could Not keep a deadline if their lives depended on it.  Plain and simple WC gives dates and WC always misses those dates.

    Hey since everyone wants to still have a stick up their rear end about the taming IT WAS ADDED LATER IN AN EDIT.

     

    Also noticed this question was asked MULTIPLE times and I also don't know.....What is a Chibi?

    The problem was that people were not reading the whole thread and were just instantly quoting the posts from the first page. I've edited those posts earlier, so hopefully people stop about it. ?

    Awesome love the event. Did you fix the Rexes on the Island yet. They can't damage anything except a Mammoth. It's great that you made The Island an actual Winter Wonderland but I can't play it until you fix the Rex issue.
