  • ARK Xbox v731: Split-screen, Dimetrodon, Dung Beetle, Gallimimus & more!

    large.SplitShot0.jpg.9d7283d65ae2f779c65

    Hey Survivors!

We’re very excited to announce that the patch is now live! This will bring a heavy update to the Xbox One, including a plethora of content and mega optimization! The ARK will be joined by 3 new friends, many new items and of course the exciting multiplayer functionality, split-screen! We know this has been a highly requested feature from players and we're stoked to allow you guys to unravel the mysteries of the ARK side by side with your friends and families!

    large.SplitShot1.jpg.bc444079c7bdf5ff930

    large.Dimetrodon.jpg.b43c16a84c18875c3cb

Say hello to the adaptable carnivore! The Dimetrodon offers players shade during excessive heat and shelter from extreme cold by way of the massive insulating sail running down its back. It’s regarded as one of the friendly creatures to survivors and can be found roaming the swamplands that are plentiful with small prey.

    large.564d2f513b866_DungBeetle.jpg.7b3eb

The Dung Beetle is a wondrous organic biofactory that eats excrement and other useless waste to then metabolize and produce burnable oil that can power generators and fertilize crops! Regarded as the perfect tame for cleaning up around the tribe’s dino-pen.

    large.Gallimimus.jpg.b8463f51b1e38786b4b

It’ll come as no surprise to survivors that the Gallimimus has been often been described as being chicken-like, with it’s extremely skittish behaviour, looking nervous even when eating! The speedy herbivore makes its way onto the ARK with no natural way to defend itself except for running away. Thankfully the Gallimimus may very well be the fastest dinosaur on the ARK, it's strength, endurance, and speed of its legs allow it to ferry up to 3 Survivors in a specially-designed Saddle!

Today’s update adds an enormous amount of content and optimization, including:

    • SWAT-style Assault Armor for all your raiding needs!
    • Greenhouse structure pieces to aid survivors in growing crops
    • The shockingly powerful Electric Prod easily capable of knocking you out.
    • Deep-Sea Loot Crates: swim into the deep and discover the highly valuable loot that exists below
    • Craftable Beer Kegs for making tasty brews, with various status enhancing effects, however the subsequent ‘hangover’ effects are not so pleasant!
    • Loads of bug fixes, serious performance update (~15%), fixed memory leak
    • Non-dedicated servers now support up to Eight survivors and 33% larger tether distance

How about the game-breaking UI bug? Are we allowed to complain about that? Smh...

"game-breaking"? keep your dinos fed and take food and water with you. not exactly hard is it?

it means someone else on the server was in there less than 15 mins ago. When you get to a cave, block the entrance and wait outside for 15 mins and the cave will reset :)

On single player and non-dedicated sessions, GG.

I can't even do caves on non-dedicated sessions because as soon as we step in to the cave, we fall through the bleepin' map due to the tether system force teleporting the other players to me inside the cave. Still, no dung beetles in either non-dedi or single player. There's not even any other creatures spawning in caves in single/non-dedi sessions for that matter.

Can't even pick up wild dinos in non-dedi sessions. Built a taming pen for dinos that only the Quetz can pick up only to find out that we can't even pick up wild dinos lol.

went though several caves in search of the relics on single player splitscreen with my younger brother recently, i have regretfully killed about 3-4 dung beetles due to jumpiness/panic while wielding a ramshackle shotty (admittedly caves freak me out lol)

Like many others, the UI is now broken. Can't see the usual survival icons on right side of the screen. Tried to adjust with UI scale, doesn't work. PLEASE FIX.

Hit apply before Save and exit. I had the same problem.

What about split-screen online? And "Be a Dino" multi-player mode would be awesome.

if you're looking for cave specific creatures (like dung beetles) the upper south cave has the highest spawn rate by far of all the caves for me (xbox, singleplayer)

Has anyone answered the questions about split screen? I can't figure out how. If anyone can answer I would be really greatful! My husband and I want to play together.

sign in with the first player, load your world, then hit start on the second controller, this will bring up a prompt to select a profile. select the profile then wait about 10s (you must have a second account on your xbox , if you don't make a new silver one as it will by default have all the benefits of your other one)

I don't mind all the bugs on the game cause I knw it will be fixed the only one that's truly annoying is taming high level dinos and going back to base to find them gone like disappeared off the face of the map so annoying
