  • ARK: Aberration Expansion Pack Announced!

    Hello Survivors!

Studio Wildcard is proud to announce ARK’s second expansion pack, “Aberration”!

Launching in 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam, in “ARK: Aberration” Survivors will find themselves waking up on a derelict, malfunctioning ARK with an elaborate underground biome system, where they will face exotic new challenges unlike anything before: extreme radioactive sunlight and environmental hazards, ziplines, wingsuits, climbing gear, cave dwellings, charge-batteries, and far more, along with a stable of extraordinary new creatures await within the mysterious depths. But beware the ‘Nameless’: unrelenting, Element-infused humanoids which have evolved into vicious light-hating monstrosities! You’ll uncover the ultimate secrets of the ARKs, and discover what the future holds in store for those strong and clever enough to survive!

    AN ARK GONE AWRY

    large.AB_2.jpg

Aberration places survivors on a damaged ARK: its internal atmosphere has leaked away, resulting in a harsh surface with intense radiation, and a plethora of lush biomes underground. With the maintenance systems of this ARK malfunctioning, the many hazards, creatures, and nature of the environment present a thrilling new world to explore and master.

    TAME NEW CREATURES

    large.AB_5.jpg

The intense radiation of Aberration has led to incredible genetic mutations, resulting in new creatures with amazing abilities! Among others, clamber up walls & glide through the air on the back of a camouflaging chameleon-like ‘Rock Drake’, keep the dark at bay with a friendly ‘Lantern Pug’, grab and toss multiple creatures simultaneously with a massive ‘Cave Crustacean’, or -- if you are talented enough to tame one -- command the vile ‘Nameless Queen’ to impregnate your foes with a horrifying reproductive chest-burster!

    large.AB_6.jpg

    CRAFT OVER 50 NEW ITEMS

    large.AB_4.jpg

New tools are on-hand to survive on the world of Aberration, while opening up many possibilities for new competitive and cooperative scenarios. Traverse the ARK using cave-climbing picks, gliding wingsuits, and ziplines. Learn advanced engrams to dominate the harsh environment, protect yourself with hazmat outfits, charge lanterns, explosive rounds, batteries, glowsticks, railguns and much more. Thrive by gathering new resources, using fishing baskets, gas collectors, fortify your home within the caverns using cliff structures, and much more!

    large.AB_10.jpg

    CONQUER NEW CHALLENGES

    large.AB_7.jpg

Earthquakes, radiation exposure, gas leaks, and Element chambers are among the many hazards that survivors will learn to grapple with Aberration’s varied biomes, both aboveground and below the surface. But among the greatest challenges on this ruined ARK is the hierarchy of unrelenting Nameless, requiring constant vigilance & Charge Energy to defend against!

    large.AB_8.jpg

And in the deepest depths of Aberration, their terrifying -- yet somehow familiar -- master awaits… will YOU be among the survivors powerful enough to face him?

    Season Pass

Aberration will be available as a standalone expansion pack ($19.99) and as part of the ARK Season Pass (or the ARK: Explorers Edition). Owners of ARK Season Pass / Explorers Edition will get exclusive in-game Aberration-themed cosmetic item skins, immediately on Steam and in the coming days on Xbox One and PlayStation 4!

The Aberration Helmet, formed from the damaged ARK's obsidian-like underground rock, creates an imposing presence for Survivors who wear it.

The Aberration Sword, forged from the Element Crystals that run within the deepest chambers of the ARK, emits a subtle glow to strike fear into your enemies.

After seen this trailer and preview via text, I must say I am quite excited for this expansion. I need to rush my game to be ready for this.

Great work, the queen looks particularly fantastic (assuming its the one that pops up from the ground). Everything about the environment looks new and refreshing, which is great. I personally loved Scorched Earth, and seems like the feat will be repeated once more.

    Cheers!

When i first saw the trailer I was floored! I was like "Is this the same game I have been playing since launch and when can I start playing??" I hope that you can transfer characters it would really suck to have to start all over again.

This looks great!  But I'm not getting it if it's ascension-locked.  I'll be "voting with my wallet" on that point; if I'm paying for something, I'm not using a cheatcode to access it, and I'm not jumping through hoops for it.  If it's not a normally-accessible Ark, I don't want it no matter how cool it is.

Ascending through the Arks is part of the story and how you progress from Ark to Ark.

Secondly, what a bunch of ungrateful whiners. Like holy poop. WC's release of Ark is no where near as bad a No Man's Sky or the GTA 5 online play fiasco. Grow up and be a little patient. Let's count off how many games WC has ever released. Oh, that's right. One. How many of you can execute a flawless release on the first time around?

Will The season pass be cheaper to those who have Scorched Earth?

People that own Scorched Earth receive a 33% discount to the season pass.

@JatCan you please stop adding stuff untill all lag issues, bugs and in general stuff that needs to fixed is fixed. It makes no sense adding more stuff when the main game and maps that are already out are so rage-induring at times, especially the 255 ping issue on ragnarok, I lost 1 wyv and im sure many others have lost dinos

It looks really cool and I plan on buying it if you guys can iron out all the major bugs in the original game first. You've got a LOT of bugs to iron out first though.

It's beautiful. I'm upset with you for so many other reasons, but this map is amazing.

Ahh... man, that could have been brought differently. I thought it was a generic discount.

Nice to see story-arc and story dlc being added. Because, after all, why are we here?

It's hard to ignore all spoiler videos right now on youtube :-(.

Will it be like I had thought? What is the reason? How many arks are there? Is planet earth a lie and just another succesful ark?

(Still hope you will soon have time to look at our linux platform bugs though... :-( Might be just missing textures)

This new DLC screams Pitch Black to me.

I hope that we can transfer from/to this ARK at some point or another. I wouldn't mind temporarily being trapped on the new ARK but I would be very disappointed if transfers in/out are impossible. Would love to use the wing suit on The Center and Ragnarok

May I suggest renaming this expansion pack to ARK: Systemic Error?

It's just that the main game is called ARK: Survival Evolved, and the other expansion pack is ARK: Scorched Earth, and I thought it was cool how they both spelled out SE. Systemic Error would also make sense from a marketing standpoint, as most people (including myself) probably don't even know how to pronounce Aberration. Hell, I didn't even know this word existed!

However, if you're too far in development, I completely understand it could lead to too much hassle. I still think it would be better that way, but the decision is completely on you.

Instead of bringing out dlc....work on fixing your damn game(dupes-which are still working..even in the new clusters) and game breaking glicthes...undermapping is still a big thing.. and work on optimizations....i dont know if u guys have been noticing....but...YOUR GAME IS DYING!!!YOUR POP IS DYING!! The stats proves it!

The name does fit though. Here is the definition if you are not aware

    ab·er·ra·tion

    ˌabəˈrāSH(ə)n/

    noun

a departure from what is normal, usual, or expected, typically one that is unwelcome.
